Default 4 "significant" cysts on one ovary

Hi all! I'm new here... let me give you some background!

I am 23 years old, and last year I had my right ovary and fallopian tube removed due to a larger than softball size tumor on the ovary. The tumor was later determined to be "borderline" malignancy. I had one more staging surgery in which everything came back normal. I follow up with my gyn onc every 3 months, and am on birth control to prevent cysts from forming on my now only ovary.

I had a pelvic ultrasound on Tuesday, during which the tech said I had 4 "significant" cysts on my left ovary. She said there were also follicular cysts, but those weren't a concern because they are normal with ovulation cycles.

I have never been diagnosed as PCOS, and it's never even been brought up as I don't have any symptoms as far as I know.

I have had a hard time finding any information on the internet about what the treatment options are at this point. I'm concerned because I only have one ovary left, and developed these "significant" cysts in only a few month time period (my last pelvic ultrasound was in the spring and was normal). I'm still young, hope to have kids someday but now definitely is not the right time. I'm also a full time college student, and the thought of more surgery is not something I look forward to.

I'm still waiting to hear from my doctor, which is another frustration. I was told she would get the report in 24 hours and then be in touch with me, and I have not heard anything and left 2 messages, Thursday and Friday.

Anyway- has anyone had any experience with this type of thing? Can anyone give me some ideas of what my doctor will say? Is my ovary going to need to be removed? Will I need to have more surgery, and if so will it be laporoscopy or laparatomy?

ANY advice or insight will be so much appreciated! Thank you!
