Default 40 Cloves and a Chicken

Oh I just love this recipe. If you don't like bad breath or garlic, this really isn't for you.

1 whole chicken cut into 8 pieces
1/2 cup plus 2 Tbs olive oil
10 sprigs fresh thyme or if you have dry thyme about 1/2 tsp.
40 peeled cloves of garlic
salt & pepper

heat oven to 350

Season chicken with salt and pepper. Toss with 2 Tbs of olive oil and brown both sides in a wide oven proof fry pan or skillet over high heat. Remove from heat, add the rest of the olive oil, thyme, and garlic. Cover and bake for 1.5 hours. Remove from oven and let chicken rest for 5-10 minutes.

We usually just eat the garlic, but it is soft and if you take is and mash some with the oil in pan, then spread on bread and toast it in oven, yum yum. also, just the oil on bread is good too. You get the infusion of flavors.

Red face Wow!

That's a lot of garlic! I am assuming you are meaning the individual cloves off the bulb, NOT the whole bulb!

But, you know, I LOVE garlic and I think I will give this a try! And I ADORE GARLIC BREAD, so I like that idea, too! Garlic is supposed to be very good for you, too!

I did a websearch after reading your post and found this garlic puppet. He was designed by Robert Rogers. Isn't it cute?! He is called "Gary Garlic!"

Thanks for posting this recipe! Kathryn

Garlic also helps lower cholesterol...my brother found a recipe for pickled garlic, and it was outta this world. I don't remember offhand, but it's worth a try...

My mom makes spaghetti with white clam sauce that my whole family loves: whole canned clams, lots of fresh parsley, white wine, seasonings, and LOTS of chunks of garlic! It's so simple and sooo good...

yep, garlic is great for cholesterol. it also keeps to keep you imune system in great shape. we (dh and i) know a guy who eats one clove every morning and he has never been sick. i couldn't do that, but i like the taste of garlic. it doesn't, however, keep the vampires away . if you eat enough garlic it will sweat out you glands and make your whole body smell like garlic. lol that has happened to both of us before. but i still love it.

Klassicalkat- yes the clove, not the bulb.

Default Made it in the Crock Pot today

I got up this morning and fried the chicken until brown in a frying pan then transfered it to the crock pot. The chicken is now fall off the bone done. I am boiling some vermicelli to throw into the garlic and oil and herbs. I smashed the 40 cloves of garlic with my potato masher so I can just toss the pasta with the Garlic Oil. Should be really good.
