I was DX in 2003. I was put on Ortho-tri-cyclen, which I read on this site was not a good idea. I had regular cycles and with exercise I was able to lose weight, but I did gain it back once I stopped. I was able to ovulate naturally after stopping the BCP, but not until I started supplementing with Cinnamon, Flax Oil, Fish Oil, Fertility tea, Sometimes Dong Quai and the cycle we did get pregnant, I massaged Castor Oil until Ovulation. Also, I was not yet Insulin Resistant, although I was overweight and I started to gain weight in the mid-section once off the BCP. My Endo. says she will recommend Metformin once I have given birth and stopped breastfeeding.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU so much Lee for all the information. I just had my birthday on saturday so its been a few days since i've been back on the boards. The information is really insightful that you linked me thank. I feel more confident that when i find a new doctor that i will be more informed about my condition and wont just do whatever the MD says without question.

A multivitamin is a good place to start, but insulin resistant people need more magnesium, chromium, and B vitamins as well. If you are taking metformin you should supplement with a multivitamin and separate vitamin B12 tablet.
Thank you for that interesting post. I've been on this site for a few days now and am a little overwhelmed with all the great info. How much of the above mentioned supplements should I take? (I live in Germany, so I won't be able to buy the american brands of supplements), How many units per supplement is good? At this point I'm not taking Metformin, even though my doctor wanted to try it on me 3 years ago. It really bothers my digestive trackt.
Thank you for clearing up #5. People were always pressuring me to start BCPs, but I remembered reading something about it making IR worse, but I couldn't explain it until I found this.
Thanks for the myths I found them very helpful and now will ask my doctor to see if she can do a full work up to find the underlying issue why my body holds onto fat.
Thanks! This is definately insightful and encouraging, especially about IVF. I know bcp is controversial so I stopped taking it about a year ago but I plan to go back on it when I feel I am healthier. Thanks again!
