My Mood: Points: 10,933.00 Bank: 21,641.07 Total Points: 32,574.07 | 5 Types of PCOS I found this article and I thought it was very informative. It breaks PCOS into five different profiles. http://www.wdxcyber.com/dxinf001.htm - traditional PCOS -- anovulatory, increased androgens, no insulin resistance
- endocrine syndrome X -- anovulatory, increased androgens, insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes
- non-traditional PCOS --anovulatory, normal androgens, obese, insulin resistant or type 2 diabetes
- non-traditional PCOS -- ovulatory, increased androgens, mild insulin resistance
- idiopathic hirsutism -- ovulatory, increased androgens, no insulin resistance
I fall into category 3. It makes me feel better to know that there must be other people out there in the same situation as me.

My Mood: Points: 2,061.40 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,061.41 | I think I'd fall into category 3 or 4. Can someone tell me a good definition of knowing if you ovulate or not? I guess I am a little "uneducated" when it comes to all of this, but does having a period mean you are ovulating for sure? Or can you have periods and not have ovulated? I should know this, considering I am in college to be a nurse but there is so much concerning PCOS that I don't know, lol!
Thanks for posting this, Christy! It's very informative!

There is usually a change in cervical mucus (you get more of it and it has a kind of "snot" consistency - yes EWWW) and it goes away immediately after O. I get a low cramp for a couple of hours. If you are charting your basal body temp each morning, it rises right after O.

My Mood: Points: 2,061.40 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,061.41 | Thank you! I'm not keeping up with anything, so I guess if I do or not is a mystery right now. I sometimes get some cramping about 1/2 way through my cycle, so I guess that *could* be what it is. Thanks for your help!
