Ok, I went to the dr today. I am insulin resistant, but not diabetic. I'm not even pre diabetic. But I am resistant.
And my hormone ratio is 2.06. Anything higher than 2 is PCOS confirmed.

I'm a 4, although I don't ovulate if I don't eat right. Like, my cycles get messed up the longer I don't stick to a diet and exercise. All my symptoms get worse too.

Connection between PCO and high insulin is kinda new, pco sindrome is known more than 100 years. Well a lot of deseases can be idiopatic (primary) or secondary (something else is a root cause). Maybe at pcos is the same: it could be just some sort of hormonal imbalance (i know insulin is a hormone too, but I mean just sex hormones) or caused by insulin resistance.
I've been thinking lately how could I get pco, nowbody in my family has diabetes or sth but today I found out that my grandmother (she is 75 years old) had problem concieving my oncle (it took 1 year and than she needed some injections because there was danger of miscariage - ). I didn't ask if she had regular periods but probably she didn't ovulate as well and she doesn't have diabetes 50 years later (her blood sugar has been checked a month ago) neither she has heart desease. According to all those articles she would probably be dead by now because os heart atack or diabetes.
Well I really hope there is a chance that pcos can be idiopatic! My profesors say everything is possible in medicine Well not everything but things are more colorful than medical books say!!

I personally think PCOS is caused by an imbalance of ANY of the hormones, which gives us the increased chance of hypothyroidism, insulin resistance/diabetes, ovulation/infertility issues, etc. When the hormones aren't properly functioning, it causes a domino effect in our bodies, resulting in weight issues, hirsutism, acne, etc.

I'm gonna stop looking back and starting moving on
And learn how to face my fears
Love with all of my heart, make my mark
I wanna leave something here
Go out on a ledge, without any net
That's what I'm gonna be about
Yeah, I wanna be running
When the sand runs out

What exactly is "mild insulin resistance"? My lab work results were: fasting insulin 15.1 (normal is under 10); 2 hour insulin 86.1 (normal range is under 50) The doc just told me that I was insulin resistant. She didn't say if it was mild or not. Are my numbers really high, or do i fall in the mild category?
My doc told me my results were mild and I was borderline (cannot remember my numbers, but have them around here somewhere). I tried to find some numbers online, but couldnt' find a good chart for Normal, Borderline, High IR.
If insulin resistance is thought to be a the root of PCOS, why does TRADITIONAL PCOS have 'no insulin resistance' listed?
I don't know. I have had elevated Testosterone. I have traditional PCOS, but I have a very strong family history of Diabetes Type II. I have been tested for Diabetes and insulin resistance just about every way possible: Fasting glucose, A1C, Glucose tolerance test, C-Peptide and random glucose tests. I never show signs of insulin resistance. Thank Goodness.
I do know that I am high risk, so I try to stay ahead of it. (Exercise, medications and diet) PCOS is so complex. I'll ask my Endocrinolgist about the connection, the next time I see him. Since my diagnosis, my sister, my cousin and niece have all been diagnosed with PCOS. My cousin, unfortunately, developed Diabetes type II.

Medications and Supps listed on my profile.
I'm not sure but I think I'm a 1. I go back for more testing here in a month to see for sure what is going on.

Initially I didn't know which one to choose... I have irregular periods which I would guess would anovulatory (though I know the a signifies without, which I do but not regularly), no IR and slightly increased androgens (hirsutism thanks!)... Very interesting thank you!

But am 28 an am in full menopause so not sure which area i fit .. i have IR and am T2 .. no sex drive what so ever (never have had it - even if my Testosteron levels where freaking high), no sexual interest in either gender to boot, and I am over weight for all that I eat about 1,800 cals a day and burn over 3,500 calories a week - the weight is not going down as it should, which is a real bugger.

Whew. I am ashamed for I have not been to the doctor for a while. I don't know if me having a cycyle means that I am ovulating. I heard that you can have a cycle and not ovualte. The last time I went, I was told that I have elevated testosterone. Not wild, but elevated. I was also told that I was highly IR.
