I think I'm a 3, I have regular cycles even off BCP's. They can tell from blood tests that I am not ovulating though (at least not any of the months they tested).

Default Im a 4.. I think?

Ive got a question..I have a period now pretty much like clock work and my first day of flow is heavy. I have mild to heavy cramps now and then AF tapers off. But about 1-2 weeks before I get a mild discharge that is dark gold or light yellow so would you say I am ovulating?. I dont desire to be or become PG but Im just very curious as to where I fall on that list. Ive not been diagnosed type II but I do have insulin resistance.

Wow, thanks for posting this! I am new to the pcos diagnosis and I was feeling kinda skeptical about it since I would be a type 4. I was able to have one healthy dd, not even gestational diabetes. My problem is m/c'es, I got dx w/ this after my second one. So anyways, thanks again!

Boo- Just because you have regular periods, doesn't mean you are ovulating. Metformin regulates ovulation with some women.

Cali- It seems everyone is different with symptoms and have varying degrees of symptoms. You should write down all your symptoms and you will probably fall within one of the types.

Amber- You should check the TTC board about misscarriages. There is some great info on IC and low progesterone levels.

I was a 4, but now I'm a 3; however, I am 100% positive I have Cushing's, so I'm getting tested for that right now. How many here have been tested for that?

I have been tested for the past year. Look up endocrinologists who specialize in Cushings. There are some websites out there that actually list Cushing's doctors. There are also several types of Cushing's. If it shows in your labs right away (elevated cortisol is the flag), they might be able to keep checking in on it. PCOS and Cushing's, from my experience, exhibit almost the same exact symptoms so, labs are very important, not just symptoms. It's been a long struggle for the past year for me so, I insist on looking up a doctor in your area. If they flag the cortisol, then they will do some other tests to check your pituitary gland and adrenals.

If you can't find anyone, talk to an endocrinologist and be persistant with them in getting the right tests. Go with what your gut tells you.

I've had cortisol levels in the morning at 27. My most recent bloodwork was an 18... the normal range for the morning cortisol were 4.3-22.4. Other tests to check my pituitary and adrenals keep coming back negative. We believe it's PCOS that's causing my wacky levels.

Hope this helps....

I believe I am a 1...

I am anovulatory... have VERY high androstenedione.... VERY low 17-OH Progesterone... I don't know if I am insulin resistant or not. The rest of my labs were in normal range

Thank you for this
Someone shared it in a newbie thread, and I think I fall in with the other #3s.
I need to go back to my doctor and as it is another new doctor I know I am almost back at step 1 with finding answers again.

My doc tests all women who come in with PCOS symptoms for Cushings and thyroid problems. I don't have either. All ladies should be tested for both and IR and diabetes when they are dxed with PCOS.

I'm either 1 or 5. I do ovulate...only really really rarely. Like, 9 times in 7 years. And before that, I don't know...but if I did, it was REALLLLLY sporadic (I started charting in Jan 1999, but have had symptoms for YEARS before that).

I am not dx'd as IR, but I have the overweight issues, the hairloss/weird hair growth (altho the growth is nowhere near as bad as it is for some of you ladies--I'm in the depilatory of the long whitish/blonde hairs, and the tweezing of the darker ones which are sporadic--the loss IS bad, though)....

Don't know where to put myself.

Hi! I'm new around here & wanted to say "THANK YOU!!!!" for posting this. I've been soooo confused about this whole PCOS thing b/c I don't fit ANY of the symptoms EXCEPT that I can gain weight easily. About 10 years ago I started a 90 lb weight loss & for the past 5 have kept it off. Otherwise, I have no other symptoms except for the multiple cysts on my ovaries.

I have regular periods (one 32 day cycle, one 36/37 day cycle). I ovulate. I don't have high cholesterol or blood pressure so I was very lost in all this UNTIL I read this. I go in for my consult on Jan 4 & imagine that they will tell me I am a 4 or 5. Thanks again!
