This is very interesting! How can you tell if you have insulin resistance without a blood test? My RE won't test me since my fasting glucose has been 75 for a year and before that (when I weighed 20+ more) it was 81. I am going off BCP next month so I then I will be able to figure out whether I ovulate or not. I also just got diagnosed for hypothryoidism a couple of weeks ago.

Our family practice refused to do insulin testing. I drug mom off to my GYN and had her tested, and yep she is prediabetic/IR. I told them to do an IR test on DH and they finally said they did one, but the results they gave didn't sound like an IR test, so I'm going to keep my ears open for a free IR test if any place around here does them.

I just ran across an article that states that if left untreated IR can worsen or speed up Alzheimer's. A blood test for IR is simple and usually accurate (the more expensive and time comsumeing tests aren't usually used). If your current doc won't do a test, call around and see what other practice would see you just for an IR test. In my Mom's case once she was dxed with IR by one doc, her current doc agreed and started writting rx for Met. for her.

I think I would fit two best as I know I have insulin resistance but I'm not obese. Need to lose about 20 lbs. I think I'm ovulating as the OPK's tell me though. I've gotten pg and msicarried twice this year so I guess it's impossible to get PG with O'ing.

Default Three!

I am totallly a three... I ovulate now with the metformin and I have the whole obese thing going on with the insulin resistance. Can't eat a piece of stupid bread without getting so starved an hour later and feeling like I'm going to puke. Funny when I eat protein I stay satiated and happy...

Thanks for the pole that was very informative and answers a lot of questions I had about different severities of PCOS not knowing there could be different types.

Default Interesting...I was aware that PCOS

could manifest with many different symptoms, but didn't know there were really names associated with the different combos.

I am a 1.

But possibly moving toward a 2. I haven't had my insulin/glucose levels checked for quite a few years.

I have no idea what I am. Before I started BC I had a light constant flow for about 12 months. So Im guessing that would be no Ovulation and Im overweight regarding the rest I really dont know.

Very interesting! Great post! For now, I am type 1. Diabetes runs on both sides of my family, so I'm a ticking time bomb there. I do have hypothyroidism and adrenal dysfunction, so it's only a matter of time before it all goes to crap. lol... oh how I hate this syndrome.

Default I'm a little bit confused

I ovulate, but I don't have a regular period whatsoever when not on birth control.

That would make me ovulatory, correct?

And, I think my androgen levels are pretty normal...but otherwise, I think I'm a four. I think. Lol.
