Question 500 mg enough?

I was just diagnosed with PCOS two weeks ago and my doctor put me on Metformin 500mg even though my glucose test came out normal. Has anyone had any success in ovulating with such a low dose? I'm not very overweight (185 5'6"), but I've started jogging too to help lose weight. Is anyone else taking 500mgs?

Some women do have success with a low dose. Even though your glucose test came up normal, metformin can help get your hormones back in line so that ovulation can occur. Just be patient with your body...for some of us, this "correction" can take a little time, and for some it happens quickly. I wish you all the best!

Hi there! I started on 500mg because this can work for some people, it wasn't enough for me so I am taking 1000mg now but I think the general rule is that you should take the minimum of any drug that you need. there is less chance for unwanted side effects coming into play. Good luck!

I tried 500mg for 9 months and did not ovulate or get a period when I tested, even with weight loss, low carb and excercise. I increased to 1000 and I don't know yet because I take yasmin as well. I'll take a break from yasmin in a couple of months again to see if its working.
