Default 6 wks post miscarriage/D&C question..any thoughts?

Hi,

I had a D&C a little over 6 weeks ago at 9wks. Since then I have not had any signs of AF. My Dr has not been doing Betas on me..which is fine as I have been taking HPTs and watching the line get lighter each time. 2 weeks ago I took and HPT and it was negative but later a faint line showed up..indicating there was still HCG present but low. Earlier this week I also got a negative test and then later and even fainter line showed up well after the time that you are supposed to read the test. Yesterday I temped and my temp was 98.4 which is where it normally is post-O. I took another test yesterday and at 3 minutes there was a very, very faint line. I don't know what's going on! Shouldn't my progesterone level have dropped after I had the D&C and the bleeding/spotting that followed? Any thoughts on what could be going on?

I'll definitely be talking with my Dr soon..I figure though since my temp is up, then I'm bound to get AF once it drops. Hopefully that is soon.

I used to work at an OB/GYN in the lab. It can take several months before your Hcg levels are back to normal. Some woman are back to zero in a few weeks, and some it takes a few months. You are 6 weeks out, I wouldn't be too concerned yet, it can take some time. I would make an appt with your doc though...even if your Hcg is at +2 it can register a faint line. Some docs like to see it go back to zero before you try again, or see it at a specific number for a period of time. Your baseline could be +2...Good Luck!!

After my m/c, it took 3 months for my numbers to drop back down. I lost the baby at 6 weeks, but didnt start bleeding until 8 weeks. the highest known number I had was 11,000. So it took a very long time for mine to finally get back down to normal. I guess I should have gotten a D&C, but I really wanted to try and go natural.

I am so sorry about your loss.

Thanks Stormy and Tracy for responding..

I know that it can take a couple of months to for HCG levels to drop down to zero, but what puzzles me is why my temps are like my temps usually are post-O. Could my progesterone level still be up from the pregnancy even though I had a D&C and had bleeding and spotting afterwards? Or is it possible that I might have O'd? I rarely O on my own and my periods are very long and irregular when I'm not on meds.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
It is possible that you o'ed. Sometimes a m/c can shake things up and your cycle can be different then it was before.

How are things now?
