I went for a sonogram today to see how my cyst is doing, it has gone from 1.5cm to 7 since 2001. I am having extreme bleeding, anemia, and vomiting. I am getting pretty scared. I go back to the dr on June 13 to discuss my options. They keep telling me I should have a hysterectomy but I'm not ready for that yet. The vomiting really scares me, the last episode I thought I'd have to be taken to the emergency room.
I've had large cysts before but never anything that lasts that long, generally mine rupture (hurts like hell!) but gets rid of it... The vomiting i get sometimes, (TMI i also get diareha real bad). Why can't they drain your cyst? is it on the ovary or is it some where else?
Is it the same cyst you have had since 2001 or have you just had a problem with cysts in general since then? I think that it is common for women with PCOS to get cysts, have the cysts rupture and then get new cysts. Are you on metformin or receiving any other treatment for your PCOS? If not, maybe treatment would eliminate or at least lessen the cyst problem. A hysterectomy is a big deal. If you are not sure that you want one I would consider getting a second opinion first. I had a cyst when I was in high school that was pretty painful but it ruptured and went away on its own. If they told me how big it was I don't remember. Hopefully they will figure out some other way to take care of this problem for you. Good luck!

I had a simular expirence. I had a 15 lb cyst removed from my left ovary in 2001, I cant remember the exact size but they said it was the size of a football.
I didnt really have any bad pain or anything like you are expirencing but I did opt to have it removed. Now I have a 3cm one on my right ovary and we are taking the wait and see approach. I have another ultra sound in July.
I hope eveything works out well for you. Remember you arent alone in this battle.
