Default abdominal pain still 1 week after d&c

We recently discovered when I was 11w4d pregnant that the heart had stopped. I opted for a d&c the next day. I did o.k. for about 2 days afterward with very little bleeding, then on day 3 and 4 started passing increasingly larger clots. I went in and he thought my uterus was not clamping down and the bleeding was pooling causing the clotting. That same day I also started having some mild abd. tenderness. He put me on methergine to clamp down the uterus, and help the bleeding. That did work, the bleeding stopped, but the abdominal pain had gotten worse. I thought maybe is was the methergine, so I skipped the last 2 pills. Well, the abd. pain is still there, and the bleeding is back. My belly is tender to touch and it doesn't fell like cramping, just pain. I think my doctor is stumped why I would hurt, and mainly thinks it is the drug or me being depressed. I am doing fine emotionally with the pregnancy loss, but not being able to recover correctly has got me depressed.
Anyone else experience this?
Thanks,
Julie

Julie,
I haven't had a D&C, so I can't offer any info but would suggest getting a second opinion. Sometimes it ends up saving your life.

And I just want to wish you a smooth recovery and emotional well-being through this. Let us know if there's anything you'd like to talk about. Everyone here has suffered and understands, if you end up needing to vent.

Best wishes,
Sheri

Julie,

((((big hugs))))

I am so sorry for your loss.

I, like Sheri, have never had a d&c but I agree with her that you should seek another opinion. I would think after a week, you should be feeling better physically, not worse.

I hope you feel better soon.

Love and hugs,

Julie

First I am sorry for your loss. I just had my D&C last Friday. So tomorrow will be a week for me. I wish that I could say that I am doing better emotionally, but I am not. Physically I am doing better. My bleeding has almost stopped and I only have occassional sharp pains. I haven't had any today, but last night I had one that only went away with percaset.

I agree with the other girls. I would have a second opinion. Have they done another u/s since the d&c to see if they got everything? I can't figure out why you would be hurting that bad still. I have my moments, but your's sounds much worse. Have you had a fever, as that could be a sign of infection.

Good luck and I will be thinking about you. Please keep us updated.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I had a D&C on March, I had alot of bleeding as he was finishing and when I was in recovery. But after that he gave the same pills you are taking and all I had was light spotting and very light pain for about 5 days. It may be a good idea to get a second option. Your in my prayers. Tracy

I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread, or update here how I am doing. I decided here (obviously)
The day after I asked for advice I started to see improvment. Today, I feel almost back to normal (If you don't count the 5 lbs. I gained from all the comfort eating). I still have the bleeding, but very little clots. The abd. pain is gone- thank the Lord!
Thank you all so much for your concern. Emotionally, I would still say I'm doing O.k. I can function day to day, but have not gone back to work- that will be Tues, and I know I will get very little sleep Mon. night. I feel like work is a very big hurdle. Everyone knew of my pregnancy, and 3 other girls are pregnant with due dates with in two weeks of what should have been mine.
Oh my, this is getting lengthy- just wanted to say thanks.

Julie,
I'm very relieved. I wish you lots of luck Tuesday! Maybe a sleeping pill would be a good idea for Monday night, or a glass of wine? Anyway, you deserve a good night's rest and to confidently tell anyone who brings it up that you are thankful for their concern but would rather not talk about it.
(Hugs!)
Sheri
