Default Ablation?

I was wanting to know if anyone has had personal experiences with ablation as an alternative of getting rid of heavy bleeding/clotting, etc for their PCOS. If you don't want to post here on the board, please PM me. It is something I have personally been trying to decide to do or not (it is confirmed I can't have kids). I want to hear some personal experiences and see what is in store.

Thanks!

I just it done (Novasure) last month. I think it worked. I will for sure next month. I was not haveing heavy prolonged periods but I was spotting for like 6 days between cycles. Anyway, it is only recommended if you are done ttc'ing. It was painless. Good luck!

Thank you so much for replying. I know that it is better to hear other's true experiences rather than reading on reports of "risks/good things/etc"!

Thanks again!

I know someone who had it done 5 years ago. She hasn't had any problems. She also has pcos and this has helped her control her weight, and everything. I am thinking about having it done. I have been trying to decide for a few months now. My friend says she only spots for about 3 to 4 days and that is it. Sounds wonderful to me. She said before having it done, she bled a lot for an extended amount of time. She was sooooo glad she had it done. If my ObGyn was in town, I think I would have it done in a heart beat, but my doctor is about 3 hrs away. My friend had it done as an out patient and was back to work the following day. She has no regrets...I think I talked my self into it...maybe..I am chicken, I don't like doctors...lol

I had the Novasure done on 12/21/06 and haven't regretted it yet. It was done by outpatient and the nurses were great at the center. They even numbed my vein before doing the IV. I'm a hard stick so she got it on the first try. Waking from anesthesia was scarry because I have panic attacks quite often and couldn't remember where I was. Before going under my doc was holding my hand and reassuring me that everything was going to be fine.

Before the procedure I would have very heavy and painful periods that lasted for weeks. On the pill I would have 2 periods a month, each lasting more than 7 days. Since then I think I've had a period but still not sure. I had some drainage for several weeks after wards and then last week I had some cramps and a slightly yellowish mucous discharge when I wiped. That's it. Only time will tell if I start having more of a period but since I had a polyp removed during the procedure the doc thinks that was causing the excessive bleeds and should be under control as long as it doesn't return.

I already have 2 kids and my hubby had a vas done over 4 years ago so the infertility effects wasn't an issue for us. I would be completely sure you are unable to have kids of your own before doing this. I was told at a very young age that I would never have children because of how bad my ovaries were. They apparetnly lied because I had my son when I was 18 and my daughter when I was 26.
