Hi Kim
Here is a very helpful site
http://www.womenshealthlondon.org.uk...al/cervab.html that should deal with any concerns you have.
I've had 2 abnormal smears. On my first one, I was booked in for a colposcopy that revealed I was CIN3. I had loop wire treatment to remove the affected part of my cervix. With my second abnormal smear, it was mild and I was pregnant. I was worried that it could develop into cancer while pregnant. My specialist assured me that often when the cell changes are mild, they can revert back to normal, particularly with the changes experienced during pregnancy, and if not, it takes around 5 years to develop from mild cell changes to cancer (there are 3 stages of pre-cancerous cells). Sure enough the abnormal cells disappeared of their own accord.
I know it's hard not to worry about it, but asking you to come back in 6 months is giving your body the possibility of healing itself without invasive treatment. Hang in there {{{hugs}}}.
