Abnormally long periods even though primary PCOS symptom is lack of menses OK, I have conducted a search for a thread about this but have had no luck so I apologize if this is a repeat topic.
My primary PCOS symptom which led to my diagnosis, is a lack of menses. In the early years of puberty I would only have a period every 6 months, almost to the day. When I was older and became sexually active, my periods came more frequently but never regularly and not monthly. I had a miscarriage in '99 (had no clue I was pregnant but had bled for 13 days and knew something "wasn't right")about 2 years after that. After those 2 years, I would have a period sporatically (sp?). Maybe once a year, maybe twice a year...
Fast forward to '06. For whatever reason when we moved from Az. to IN., by periods started coming once every 4 months. I have never had a period that lasted longer than 8 days. Recently, like 20 days ago, I started my period. I suppose I was "due" since it has been approx. 4 months (although I don't keep track because they are so irregular). I bled for FIFTEEN DAYS(the last 5 or so were more like brownish, sticky discharge and occasional red/pink)!! I had severe cramping and gas-like pains throughout my abdomen and lower tummy area but get constipated during my periods so really didn't worry much about it. It has been 5 days since the end of that cycle. I had intercourse 4 nights in a row and now there is pink on the toilet tissue when I wipe.
Is this common? I have never had this happen before. When I miscarried and bled for 13 days prior to seeing a Dr., that was the longest "period" I've ever had! I took a PG test on day 13 of the bleeding THIS time and it was a CLEAR negative.
I feel fine, I'm just frustrated!!
Anyone else experience this?
Sorry if it's all TMI but we're all "big girls" here right?!LOL |
