Default about my loss....

I am thinking about something and let me know what you girls think. Not like I am holding on to hope or anything but...
I was measuring 8 weeks 1 day at the u/s today. according to my calculations I should be 8 weeks 2 days. Kinda close huh?
She was having a hard time visualizing. She said that the sac and fetus where up against a my uterine wall and that my uterus was in a position that makes it hard to visulaize.
She did put the little red and blue contrast on there to see if there was a heartbeat but it was very hard to visulaize what was going on.
I am supposed to schedule a D&C tomorrow. I think I am going to ask for a repeat u/s before I let them do anything just to ease my mind. It is just odd that the baby is only measuring one day off of my EDD.

I’m so sorry for your loss. But something just doesn’t seem right because your measuring right on target, had they found the heart beat before? I would defiantly request another ultrasound to make sure that you truly did lose the baby and it’s just not the position the babies in. Hopefully it was just an oversight on the tech’s part.

I think requesting one more u/s is a good idea. demand it if you have to. You want peace of mind, to know for SURE before your D&C.

It couldn't hurt to get one more done and if it puts your mind at ease it is worth asking for. Have they tested your HCG levels? If this is a loss I'm sorry you have to go though this.

I would agree with the pp! I would get a second u/s to make sure that it is not the baby's position that is keeping your from seeing the baby's heartbeat.
I hope everything works out for you! KUP!

So I just got of the phone with the doctor that I saw yesterday (that I had never seen before). I told her that I wanted another u/s before the D&C. She said that at 8 weeks they should have seen a heartbeat right away and that even though I was measuring exactly where I should be that if we did another u/s the results will still be the same so why do it. WTF! I told her that the u/s tech said that she was having a hard time visualizing the fetus and that my uterus was tilted and making it hard to see. She said that the images that she sees in my chart were pretty clear and that the outcome will not change. I asked her why the u/s tech would tell me that it was hard to visualize and that the images have particles that also make it hard to see. She said that she might have been trying to "buy time to see a heartbeat." So then she tells me that Insurance will not pay for it if I get another u/s. I told her I would pay for it anyway just to give me the piece of mind. I told her that I was measuring right on and she said that she knew that but that she thinks the baby died the day before my u/s. She told me again that the end result will be the same anyway. I would not put this doctor out if she was on fire! Regardless of the "end result" don't tell me that something is hard to see and then say it wasn't and that someone told me that "to buy time" WTF! I told her "can you see that is why I am questioning the result because of what she said" She still said "it does not matter, the end result will still be the same" IT DOES MATTER! TO ME! Don't tell me things that are not true! Anyway... I have an u/s at 11:30 tomorrow. I am expecting that the outcome will still be the same but at this point I am fighting for my right to a second opinion even if someone told me something "to buy time" I am seeing a different u/s tech and using a different machine. For so many reasons I want the first diagnosis to be wrong.... Just to show that doctor is definately one of them but I know that there really is very little hope. Any hope I had the doctor squashed it anyway.
Thank you all for your replies and kindness. I will keep you all posted.

Oh Miracle I am so sorry, she should have definately been more understanding! I don't blame you for wanting the second opinion. I say that no matter what the u/s shows tomorrow you should find a new doc, one with a little more compassion towards her patients! Until then I will be praying for you, that the first u/s was wrong! Hugs and prayers!!

I'm so sorry that your dr was such a jerk!
What harm would a second u/s do, ya know?
And it would give you peace of mind, and even if it doesn't do any good (As she said) it would still put you at ease (and that is very important.) Dumb, cold hearted, antipathetic doctors.

I hope that it was just the tech messing up, or the machine...
KUP.

(*hugs*)

Make sure they check your HCG levels too! If they are dropping then don't rush into a D&C. Your not putting yourself at risk by waiting.

Hun I am so sorry I have gone thru this three times. I was pg with twins and one did not have heartbeat so Dr. said that other wouldn't either and wanted to d/c asap. I held out and within 4 weeks I lost the other one, but you just dont know. I dont blame you for wanting to be reassured, that is your right. I will pray for you hun, I know this isnt easy if you need someone to talk to let me know.

Ya not only do you have the right to be reassured but just think-- if the doctor IS wrong then you have saved the baby's life!

Go for it girl and another thing never get an D&C unless you're sure-- NEVER.

Thanks for all the support everyone. I went for another u/s today. This time with a different tech and a better machine and there was no growth or heartbeat. She was very nice and showed me everything. She said it looks like my body is trying to m/c because things are starting to break apart. She said that she is 100% sure that there is no heartbeat and asked if I was sure about my dates and I said I was positive. One of the other docs that I know in the practice came in and took a look and he said that he is sure too. We got a really good look at everything and it is just not good. I am starting to have an increase in cramping. He did do a beta and I will have another one on Friday before the procedure but he said at this point in pregnancy the beta is not a definate answer and that an u/s is the most telling. He said that if he thought there was a chance he would cancel my D&C. He was upset about how the other doc treated me and said that he would deal with that. She is new with the practice and I told him that I will never go see her again.
