? about pcos, lap band and stopping metformin Sorry if this post is too long, it may take some explaining to get some opinions. I have classic pcos symptoms besides I believe I ovulate monthly, my cycles are like clockwork, and I have no actual cysts. That's why my dr dx as the "syndrome" 'cause I don't have the cysts. Anywho, I was on metformin for a few years till I had the lap band surgery this past September. My dr said that since I will be changing my eating habits (which is easier said than done), and losing weight that I could discontinue the metformin. Well ever since I had the surgery and being off the met, I have only craved sweets and I mean I have ate way too much of it. The odd thing is I have never in my life had a sweet tooth. So I guess my question is, I'm wondering if my sweets overload could possibly be from not taking the met? I am just trying hard to figure out why now do I want to eat the things that I shouldn't! I'm not sure what it would have hurt for me to have stayed on the met. I'm still a long, long way from a goal weight and I would think that the insulin resistance would be a lifelong condition.
