Default About to start Gluc XR and nervous!

Hi this is my first post on this board.

I am about to start Glucophage XR. I am nervous about the side effects, I have several meetings/appts, etc this week. How sick did it make you? Can you leave the house? I don't want to keep putting it off. We usually eat pizza tonight, will I totally regret starting after eating a meal like that? Normally I follow a moderate lo carb diet (like the Zone), but Saturday night is movie/pizza.

About me: I have PCO, the biggest thing is annovulation, I had to take injections to get pg with DS #1 in 1999, started TTC#2 in November 2003, 2 cycles of gonal-f/iui, got pg, but 2nd miscarriage in February. Dr wants to try Gluc XR to improve egg quality, I am 32 and not IR. (me in a nutshell).

I like how active and helpful this board is, happy to be here!

I take 2500mg of Glucohphage XR a day, 2 pills with breakfast and 3 with dinner. I won't lie to you, I do have some stomach discomfort. It is mainly diarrhea but it really gets better after you have been on it for several days. I was originally taking metformin which made me really sick, so my doctor switched me to name brand glucophage. I still wasn't happy with that so we went to the XR. Man do I feel better! I have been doing so much better on the XR. Let us know how you do.

Christine,

I was very nervous too..and delayed taking it as much as possible. However, I was pleasantly surprised w/ the lack of side effects I had. I did have bouts of nausea and a slight loss of appetite ..but not much else. I just got my first regular period in years after being on it only 2 months.

Good Luck..

I just took my first Gluc XR 500mg pill tonight! I am nervous too! I'm sure it's too early to really tell, but I developed a headache about an hour after taking it. (could be coincidence)

My endo is having me take 500mg for 1 month, then 1000mg for 2 months until I follow up with him.

Let us know how you're doing and if experience any s/e's!
