Hi, Welcome to SC!
First time i went to the dr i had excessive weight gain and no periods, so they told me to lose weight and i would go back to normal. But that dr was clueless, anyway it kept me from going to doctors for a while. Then in 2005 i went to a new ob/gyn and she's the one that said " I think you have PCOS", i show a lot of the symptoms. She then referred me to an endicinologist. I had noticed all the symptoms but never took them too seriously do i'm glad my obgyn noticed and pushed me to get a diagnosis.
I think since not all women with PCOS show the exact symptoms, any indication of possible PCOS should be addressed.
Here is a must read article for newbies, it details PCOS in an easy way to understand HTH!
Hello and welcome here.
My gyn never took me seriously. She was always try that med for 6 months just so that I stay away from her for that particular time. I went to endo on my own by reading posts here where most of the cysters preferred it. He too says I dont have it and has put me on Yasmin for 6 months and now started Met along with it.
I mentioned that I thought I had the symptoms of PCOS to my primary care, and he said to talk to my ob/gyn. I mentioned it to her since I was undergoing fertility treatments through her and she kinda ignored it.
Then finally I got referred to a RE/Fertility clinic and when I went in for an U/S and the nurse took one look at my u/s and said...it looks like you have PCOS. So the next day when I had my consult with the doc, I mentioned it and he kinda rolled his eyes (like he must hear that a lot or something). Then he pulled out my u/s from the day before and looked over my file and said..yep you have PCOS.
I am not starting on Met 500 and working up to 1500 daily. It was nice to finally have someone validate my my feelings on everything I was experiencing.
I think you just need to keep talking and keep pushing until someone listens.
