hi dearies...

i used to be on roaccutane couple of years ago. i was just wondering, who has been on it and who feels that it could be a cause of PCOS or menstrual cycle disruption?

I was on this many many years ago. I had undiagnosed GYN problems at the time but I have to say that I don't feel it helped. It took years for me to be diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis.

However the fact that it causes birth defects so you can't conceive whilst taking it should be enough to indicate that it is a very heavy duty treatment. I just wish that I had been treated holistically from the start - I am now convinced that the acne and PCOS are related....

I took it while in middle school, so about 15 years ago or so. I didn't know I had PCOS at the time but I knew I had irregular cycles. I was also not on bc pills yet. At the time, it really helped me. I didnt have breakouts for years and years... until I went off the pill and then it came back with a vengence. However, I've since been treated for hypothyroidism and PCOS and I haven't had a breakout since my treatment for those.

I was on accutane for my cystic acne that was caused by pcos, accutane helped me when no other drug available at the time helped me. PCOS symptoms were quite obvious before I ever took accutane.
