Question Acne condition when pg?

Hi!

A question for pg cysters / the ones who have been pg:

What happened to your skin when pg? Did the acne / hair loss etc. cease? Did it get worse? Did you get oilier skin or did it get dry?

I became pg right after my roaccutane quarantine ended (6wks after taking the last tablet). I did not get more that few spots every now and then, but my skin was terribly oily and I had to wash my hair sometimes 2 times a day because I could not stand the smell of greasy hair. Yuk!

I'm asking this because my skin has gotten worse again and I would not like to get roaccutane any more... I wonder how I end up looking if I should be blessed with pg-nancy.

cd27 and counting...

Hate to say it.. but my skin got worse with pregnancy. (my kids are now teens...) and once I had the children, (2 separate pregs) my hair did fall out as my system returned to 'normal'. Also, once the children were born, and the system was back to 'normal' my PCOS symptoms became worse with each pregnancy.
But remember, that is just me, and each of us are different.. what happened to me may not happen to you.

Great news, my acne almost totally cleared up and stayed clear while nursing my babe frequently.

I've always had a really big problem with it and was thrilled when it cleared up in pregnancy, when most people were breaking out!

I guess my hormones and stuff must have leveled out some because of pregnancy and nursing. I didn't get diagnosed with PCOS until a couple weeks ago. I think I may have always had it. In my teens, my acne was horrible and we thought it was just adolescence (though we tried a million medicines and nothing helped) but it continued right on into adulthood.

All my symptoms improved dramatically whilst I was pregnant - in particular my skin was totally clear until the last few weeks. But since giving birth everything has returned to normal.

During both my pregnancies, my skin totally cleared up and my food cravings normalised so that I was seeking healthy food. I actually lost weight during the first half of my second pregnancy which my ob had no problems with....she said that the baby will take what it needs. I never felt better!

My experience with pregnancies is this...I have 3 kids, 2 boys and a girl. This was before any pcos diagnosis, so no meds. With my boys, I had AWFUL cystic acne on my jaw line, it was disgusting. I gained the usual twenty pounds with both of them...Then with my girl, my skin was beautiful, it never looked so good!! I actually only gained about 9 pounds with her and ended up weighing less afterward then I did before I got pregnant! Go figure! I always kid my husband that I think I want to have another girl so I can lose some more weight!

During my 1st pg I don't remember my skin being bad at all, but back then, I didn't even suspect that I had pcos (dd was unplanned.) With this pg, however.....ugh! My face seems to stay oily and the acne disgusts me! My hair is falling out like crazy & I'm just hoping that I won't be bald by the time this kid is born! A friend suggested that it might have to do with the fact that we're expecting a boy this time....who knows! I'm just praying that once I give birth my body will calm down!

I wish you the best of luck!
