For the past several weeks, I've been breaking out with a rash on my stomach and thighs. It looks sort of like acne, with red spots that hurt, but it's also kind of itchy.
I've tried everything I can think of... changing soap, changing laundry detergent, using Carley's acne scrub, using Phisoderm, etc. but the rash only seems to be getting worse.
I am so frustrated with this right now... it's not bad enough that I have to be fat and hairy, I also have to be covered in disgusting red spots? I could just cry.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It doesn't respond to anything acne normally would respond to, so if it's not acne what could it be?
I'm cross-posting this in alternative rememdies, because I am taking quite a few supplements so maybe it's an allergic reaction or something.
It will be several weeks before I can get to a dermatologist... I don't have any insurance yet, and I can't take any time off my new job anyway. But if anyone has any ideas what this could be or what to do about it short of seeing a doctor, I'd appreciate it.

Well, first off, I thought that mine was due to soaps etc, come to find out, it is most likely the water and a combination of dry/extremely dry air. I broke out on my hands, my belly, inner arms, thighs, and behind my knees. I asked the doc and they couldn't say for sure what it was, except that is was indeed a rash and not anything else. I changed my laundry detergent and that didn't seem to help at all. I looked into everything I ate or used and nothing was different. The only thing I could find different was that we are now on well water, where as before we were on city water. So, everyday I am constanly moisturizing with eucerin cream because that seems to be the only thing that works. Not even the anti itching pills I was given worked. Now my skin is so dry that I am finding that it is eczema that I am developing. Not too uncommon. The thing is that I had it when I was a little kid, but it went away. And now that I am in a very dry climate it is back, even though my DH's dry skin problems seem to have been eleviated by moving here. It sucks. Oh yeah, one other thing, if your potassium, calcium, and magnesium are low, you will get dry itchy skin because you are dehydrated. Just one more thing to add to my problems, since I am on a diuretic, which takes potassium away.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone with the itchies. Try a cream, not a lotion, which is not water based. Water based lotions can make the skin worse. If it says emollient on the bottle, jar, or tube, then that is what you want to use.
