Default acne meds that work with ttc

first off i should mention that i'm on 1500 mg of metformin a day. take prenatal vitamins and am on an almost no/low carb no sugar diet per my endo. and since i am ttc it's not ideal for me to go back on birth control. oh and i drink LOTS of water.

so besides generic otc acne meds, what else is there? my acne is not getting better and i've been on metformin for almost 3 months and on the new diet for 3 weeks.

i've heard of saw palmetto, but read somewhere it's not good to take while ttc. i'm almost at my wits end with acne. it's destroying my social life and i am becoming more depressed. i just want to hide out at home all the time.

I dont get it too bad, but since coming off BCP I have noticed a massive change in my skin condition, it does get you down after a while, I know how you feel xxx

According to my Doc, of whom I asked the same question, there is not much you can do when TTC. I know that isn't what either of us want to hear, but I have to agree that skin tends to be a casualty when ttc. Just try to keep your skin clean, use oil free moisturizer and invest in a great cover-up. I have resolved that this is what I am going to have to do for a while.

how disappointing! i was almost so sure that when i started the metformin my acne would go away. and when i started my new diet per my endo my skin would be fine.

sigh.......the joys of ttc.

I'm in the same boat as you Try using a mineral foundation as a cover up. It covers amazingly and it's the most natural looking make up I've ever used. Good luck.

Vitex helped my acne a LOT when I used it.

Does anyone know whether this is safe to use when ttc?

Vitex is okay to use while ttc, but once you find out you are pregnant you should stop.
