Default Acne on Scalp?

Does anyone here get acne on their scalp? I'm not sure it's something that normally happens during the menstrual cycle or not.

Hi, I have also been dealing with acne on my scalp. It is especially prominent just beyond my hairline around my face. I was just diagnosed with PCOS last month, and last month, with the help of provera, was the first time I have had a period since I don't know when. I have been dealing with this acne on my scalp for several months now so I don't know if mine is related to my period. I dunno what the heck is going on but it drives me NUTZ. I've tried changing shampoos, washing my hair more, washing it less. I can't figure it out! It really bugs me, and I pick at them which really makes it grose because then I have pimples and scabs EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!

Hi there,

I get pimples on my scalp too. I am not sure what causes it. I have an extremely oily scalp, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. Luckily, I don't have major acne on my scalp (only 3 or 4 at time usually), but it's still annoying. I'm not sure what we can do about it.

I think when I am on Spiro it really helps with this (seems to "dry me out" a bit).

Yes, if I'm not taking anything to treat the cystic acne, I get it on my scalp also. Not a lot, but enough to be annoying. I also have sebhorric dermatitis on my scalp (basically dandruff).

I think that ProActive have a shampoo and conditioner. Has anyone tried that? Has it helped?

i used to use Head & Shoulders shampoo because i thought i had SD. i had the most painful zits inside the hairline at the back of my head, somtimes extending down onto my neck...then someone told me that the shampoo itself could be the cause....i stopped using it and started using the Fructis shampoo for oily roots/dry ends and i haven't had a zit on my scalp since then....this was about a year ago....
