Thumbs up Cure for Scars - it works!

I have been looking and looking for something to remove scarring and after having chemical peels (which hurt like hell and don't work) and green peels (which hurt like hell but do work) I have finally found a gentle way of removing scars. There is a website www.phytocure.com that has a scar remover made from essential oils. I recommend buying the scar oils and this lovely lady (who herself had acne scars) even sends you the recipe so you can make it yourself. It is also incredibly affordable. In 10 months my scarring has all but gone and I feel so much better about my face - I can wear my hair up now! Haven't been able to do that for 15 years.

I hope this helps someone..............

Question Acne Scars - I want them to disapear!

My acne was really bad up until a few months ago (since i started metformin and spiro) Now its under control... but when i had it, it was practically all over my body: face, back, chest (boobs) and butt.. i know.. gross.

Anyhoo, it was so bad that now I am left with scars and I was wondering if there is a cream or treatment out there to make the scars fade quicker... Not only for my self-esteem benefit but because I have met this guy that i really like and should it come to it, I don't want to gross him out with all these dark spots... I feel like a connect the dot game.

If anyone could suggest anything, please... I'm willing to try anything that is safe and affordable.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Melanie,

Are your "scars" actual indentations/pock marks, or are they just those annoying reddish brown "spots" left from previous breakouts?

If they are just "spots" they will gradually fade over time...Honest!!

If you want to speed up the process a bit , you can go to a derm./aesthetician and get a series of peels, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion. The results will very based on the severity of the damage you have.

I personally could not afford to keep going to the Aesthetician, so I began doing my peels at home. I do a 10% Salacylic Acid peel about once every 4-6 weeks and a 30% Glycolic peel about every other week (if you want me to let you know where to purchase the peel kits let me know, and I'll PM the info to you) I also use a Copper peptide Surum by skinbiology, which is a non greasy sort of moisturizer which gives my skin a healthy "glow'.

I have been doing all this for a little over a year now, and my skin looks 100% better!!! I still have the ocassionaly pimple, but my skin seems to finally be under control!!! YEAH!! My DH has even complimented me on how nice it looks, and he normally never notices those type of things!!!

Anyway, I hope the info helps!!

Good Luck!!

Hi. I had severe acne a few years ago and was left with scars all over my face also. I have both the red dots and the deeper ones.

I have been using Jojoba oil and it seems to really help with the red dots. I put it on twice a day and it also helps reduce your pimples (it has for me anyway). It also makes your face smooth and wrinkle free if that is something you are worried about .

I also used Rose Hip oil at one stage and that helped with the red dots a lot but I seemed alergic to it as I would break out in a red rash so I had to stop using it but I heard it's even better for scars then Jojoba oil.

Here are some articles on the oils:

JOJOBA OIL:
http://www.ageless.co.za/jojobaoil.htm

http://www.angel-made.com/jojoba.htm

ROSE HIP OIL:

Hope this helps .

Default Who Else Has Pock-Mark Scars?

I have pock-mark scars. I hate it. I'm extremely self-conscious of them. Some are small and others are huges.

Anyone else out there share this? What is the best treatment for making these type of scars less noticeable?

Red face

Hi. I have had the pock marks since I was a teenager. They appear larger sometimes. I have become used to them and find that toners help to minimize their appearance temporarily.

The best advice i can give is to work on accepting them as a part of who you are. Best Wishes.

I would see a dermatologist. One of my friends had really bad scarring from acne and got some treatment from a dermatologist. I can't remember what it was called but it helped her. GL! I really need to go to one too to get help with scarring.

I have about 3 scars from when I was getting giant, cyst-like pimples. My doctor suggested having them treated by a dermatologist. There's a chemical they can use to "fill" them in. There's also chemical peels, but that's a little more involved.

Out of all of the maladies I have, hirsutism, overweight, etc, the acne and scarring is what bothers me the most...by far. I still break out (not quite as bad since starting Aldactone), have the red/brown spots, pock mark scarring, very large pores, you name it I have. My skin looks horrible. I am extremely self concious about it, avoid going outside during day light hours almost all the time. I dont interact with people as much as I would like to, just too embarrassed of my appearance sometimes. Its limited my quality of life. I wish I could be one of those people it doesnt bother, but I've been conditioned to think I am ugly and disfigured by all of the stares, comments, questions, and disgusted looks I get. (People can be so unkind...sigh) I know my skin will never be normal and I hate it. Clear skin is so easily taken for granted, should be such a simple thing to have. Wonder why God forgot about me on that one?

Default I got 2 procedures and more than 5 chemical peels

I got 2 procedures...each time, underminning and dermasand. I then got chemical peels since I got discoloration.

My skin is far from perfect but the scars are 50% better on one side and 80% or more better on the other.

I feel much better, I don't wear as much make up now.

Don't get discouraged, there is hope.

Underminning is when the doctor lifts the skin in the pock mark with a pin and then sands the skin down.

I was a bloody mess BOTH times, had to stay out of work for 2 weeks each time. I paid 2400 USD the first time and 1400 the second time. Insurance did not cover it.

Feel free to e-mail me...duchess@hotpop.com

I will be traveling and not able to respond right away but I will when I get back. Don't let your scars get you down!

I wish I got my before and after pix from my doctor but unfortunately did not.

Default Scars, Scars...everywhere scars

I've had acne scars since I was about 12, when the summer after my period started my face erupted like a volcano. The were dark red and covered my entire face. I've had many years to get use to them and new ones are being added everyday. I'm not comfortable with them by any means, but I have learned that they are just a part of who I am. They have lessened in severity over the years, but they are still very noticeable...The shocking part. I do not wear makeup on a daily basis. And I leave my house everyday for work and errands. My husband and family think I'm beautiful and that is all that matters. My theory, I cannot change, so I accept it as a part of who I am and always will be...and if it bothers anyone to look at it well, no one has told me. Good luck, honey.

Cool question about your tip

Heya Starshadow, can you tell us more? I looked at the link but it seemed to be a very unprofessional and slightly confusing website and I'm nervous about handing over credit card info to something like that without much clearer/stronger information..

Tell us more about the products you are using if you don't mind.....or could you post the recipe? What oils are in your formula and what was the process like, how long it take, how often did you apply, etc etc etc etc. You know?

I looked on the site and only found a book for sale that tells you how to make your own beauty products........

Please fill us in!

Thanks very much for sharing your info.

Default don't waste your money on these

I do NOT recommend Mederma. It's $30 per tube cream advertised on tv for acne scars (and many other kinds of scars). As near as I can tell, it's a complete scam perpetrated by drug companies. They suggest you apply it FOUR TIMES A DAY for MONTHS to get any effect, in the first place.

I found it difficult to wear in combination with makeup. And I found that even before that happened, it irritated my skin and made me break out. I kept trying to use, but found nothing happening after finishing a whole tube.

I suppose if you're an invalid and having nothing to do all day but rub your clean, dry, scarred skin with this cream, it might have an effect, but it seems expensive, slow, impractical, unrealistic, and only minorly effective if at all.

Another thing I have not tried but have studied and observed many other people getting done is dermabrasion. Take not that dermabrasion and MICROdermabrasion are NOT the same thing.

Traditional dermabrasion is a surgical sanding that makes you look terrible during healing (you can't go outside), and costs thousands of dollars. If it's worked for some people, then maybe it's worth it....I am NOT an expert, but for several people I've known who've tried, they were dissatisfied with the results despite a long healing time and soooooo much money being spent and even having to undergo serious anaesthesia (which is a risk).

I've seen better scar treatment results from other products which cost less and are less risky, so I intend to save my money and pursue some of the other scar treatment methods. It's just not worth it to me.

Default Scar treatment and support info

There is an online support group at yahoogroups.com that is for Acne Scars. I don't remember the name of it, but they have actually had some interesting information there.....

It should be easy for someone to find it from the yahoogroups.com website by going to the field for searching for a group and using words like "scars" and "acne".

I have studied this a lot and have a few suggestions.

There are things I've tried and things I plan to try.

Things I've Tried (That Work)

Neutrogena Mult-Vitamin Treatment applied lightly, daily has done wonders for me. It's designed to prevent breakouts but also causes rapid skin cell turnover with the fruit acids and hydroxys in it. I have found that it makes the "evidence" of breakouts disappear quickly and prevent scarring as seriously, and over a long time of usage it seemed to smooth out my old scars a little too. This is not a big or DRAMATIC difference, but it's pleasant to use, also works on clearing the skin, and doesn't cost much or take my trouble, so I recommend it.

Aloe

has also helped me a lot. Aloe is a scar-healing, skin-healing plant. You can apply aloe gel directly on a scar.

Microdermabrasion is something I've tried and recommend HIGHLY for mild scarring. Not only does it help minimize scars but it makes your skin look radiant and glowing and beautiful for a while afterwards. In France, women get microdermabrasion as a beauty treatment, such as before a big event.
It's about $125 a pop so it's not cheap, but some places will sell a package of 4
or 5 sessions at a reduced price, so you could save money on it that way.

I've done it three times and never even felt UNCOMFORTABLE, much less in any pain, there is NO NEED for anaesthetic. It fills like a cat's scratchy tongue licking your face. It feels funny and it even made me laugh, but it's not really unpleasant, just a little weird. And I did notice a difference on my scars after my third treatment.

And afterward, my skin looked a little "rosy" but was not irritated or weird looking....it just looked like I was blushing a little or had been out in the sun, and I was able to apply some gentle makeup right away if I wanted to cover that up, but it looked pretty....I didn't want to!

So I recommend this highly. But again, 3 treatments is not going to change deep deep scars a lot. I have seen amazing before and after pictures though of microdermabrasion used as an acne TREATMENT and amazing scar-erasing effects.....but the women I saw in those pictures had had like 15 or 17 treatments!

Of course, if you get package deals and only have to pay about $100 per treatment, that's only $1500 to $1700 dollars, which is a LOT cheaper than big surgeries. So I'm going to do it again when I have finished doing whatever other scar treatments I do, as kind of an ongoing maintenance/ finetuning thing. I love that you don't have to come up with all the money at one time, either.

I went to a really nice good dermatologist that I know for it to be done in her office but some salons can do it as well. I was told that salons are only authorized by law to do a very mild form of it so they may not be able to give results as good, but I don't know that for sure.

I think the setting is important and having a gentle, careful person. They can se the setting higher or lower based on what feels comfortable for you (so it's not painful). They also use a lower setting on gentle areas like the eye.

Anyway, I hope this helps somebody.

The only other scar treatments I'm going to try before going back to microdermabrasion some more are

excision,

needling,

mild laser peels,

and

mild chemical peels.

I will probably try them in that order.
I won't offer advice a bout them since I haven't done them yet, but I have done a lot of reading about these and think they are likely to be the most safe and effective and give good results.

The heavier peels often require long recovery time, truckloads of money, and can re-INJURE your skin causing NEW scars!!! egads! And they can be just plain harsh and painful and make you hideous for awhile. Not worth it to me. But the milder ones seem worth it/promising.

The excision I would only use on one or two difficult scars I have that might need this method to break up scar tissue.

And I've heard AMAZING things about needling. And it's even cheaper than microdermabrasion, with results in only one session. It seems like the derm surgeons are keeping this one secret so they don't lose business to the salons who do this. I've also seen impressive pictures.

Hope this helps

Love to all sisters
