Default Microdermabrasion

I have moderate jawline scarring from my cystic acne, and have been using Modern Friction from Origins for about a month, and the scarring has faded to the point of being unnoticeable. I left the house without make-up for the first time in a very, very long time this weekend, and my overall skin tone is better, too. I think the cost per jar was around $40. My friend has been using the expensive Dr. Brandt stuff, but she says she is going to switch to the Modern Friction because my skin has improved more than hers has.

I am new to this forum so let me write my piece first (about Acne) and ill catch up once i am done.

I have had keratosis pilaris (arms and back) when I was 15. All along I thought these were acne but when I finally talked to an aesthetician about it, she told me that it was not. It is KP and that I got it from my father. Thanks dad! She gave me samples of ZNP bar soap to use for the scars and for my acne scars around my pelvic and pubis area too. I feel so self-conscious about it because they look worse than others that I have read about because I have "pacific islander" kinda color skin. My husband always tells me that it is no big deal and he loves me and will always love me for who/what I am. But it does affect my self-esteem when I see them.
Anyweis, I am still trying to find out if thie ZNP bar will work for me. It can get your skin so dry so I apply lotion before I pat myself dry after shower.

for pore refining: Back in college, my sister and I used neutorgena pre refining. And it worked perfect. I havent used it for a while though.

What else can i say? Oh yeah, back home (philippines) before I moved here. I have seen people using the OTC chemical peels, but never used them because im scared to get that reddish look on your face plus I love to be under the sun.

Years ago, i used some chinese cream (OTC) for years on my face, and it was great. I have never seen them on Asian stores and ofcourse they are not as cheap as they were back home, but not bad either. I stopped using them for 3 yrs now. This cream helped clear my skin free of acne and clear my scars.
I have seen a lot of people using papaya soap as bath soaps and swears it helps them clear their skin.

Happy Mother's Day to all moms and to thos that are TTC #1 like me, I wish that this same time next year we receive our first Mother's day card and wishes too.

Has anyone had success treating indented scarring? If so, with what procedure or product?

Star Shadow - it's great that you got rid of your scarring with the oils! I have those oils at home, so I'm going to mix up the recipe. Thanks for sharing it with us! Were your scars indented, raised or just the red marks? I have a few mildly indented scars that I'd love to kiss goodbye.

Something I've had really great success with is Arbonne's Clear Advantage line. It clears up the acne without stripping your skin, like what happened when I used Proactiv for an extended amount of time. I've been using it on my face for almost a year and a half, and if I'm diligent my breakouts are slight (only under my chin where I rest my hand), and only around my time of the month. My scars from when I was younger (deep gouge-like ones on my cheeks) seem to be getting smaller too. Not sure if they actually are, or if my skin's just in much better condition, but either way I'm happier. The cool thing with Arbonne is that they have a 45 day money-back guarantee, so if you don't see results you can send it back. If you'd like to try it, I can help put you in touch with an Arbonne rep. Good luck!

Crissy, I'm glad Arbonne is working out for you, but I have to comment on their acne skin care line. Before using it, I had moderate acne on my chin - usually 2 or 3 blemishes at a time, and they would sometimes leave behind mild indented scars. I used the Arbonne acne line thinking it would be great, but after about 1 1/2 weeks, my skin broke out horribly - we're talking 8 blemishes on my chin. Never in my life have I "ever" been broken out that badly before, and I shutter to think about the permanent scars those 8 blemishes left behind. I don't know what exactly about that line did it, but I later found out that peppermint oil is a skin irritant (http://www.paulabegoun.com/learn/dic...PE=SEARCH&ID=P), and that line has a very strong peppermint smell. I doubt it was that alone though. It's important to make sure the ingredients in the products you are using are gentle, non skin irritants, and that they don't promote acne. Wish I had had that info beforehand! My mom used the Arbonne line too, and it made her breakout as well (though mild compared to mine!!), and she rarely ever gets a blemish on her face. I have talked with others that had bad luck with their acne line as well.

Arbonne also uses nano technology. Many are concerned about the health effects of using nano technology, as the particles are so incredibly tiny, that they may be getting "too" absorbed in the body.

Sorry to be so negative about Arbonne (I do at least admire their wanting to use mostly natural ingredients - not to say that all natural is always good, but that's another story!), but in case others are reading these posts, I just wanted to share my unfortunate story.

Thumbs up Acne Scars- Smoother skin

I have been using Olay regenerist microdermabraison and peel in 1. It helps smooth skin dramatically and helps somewhat with scarring. Either way it is a great buy, it's around $25.

The Zeno is also very helpful in reducing the size in cystic acne lumps. It's around $200, but they offer flex pay of $50 monthly. I just recently invested and it was worth it.

If they are just "spots" they will gradually fade over time...Honest!!

If you want to speed up the process a bit , you can go to a derm./aesthetician and get a series of peels, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion. The results will very based on the severity of the damage you have.

I personally could not afford to keep going to the Aesthetician, so I began doing my peels at home. I do a 10% Salacylic Acid peel about once every 4-6 weeks and a 30% Glycolic peel about every other week (if you want me to let you know where to purchase the peel kits let me know, and I'll PM the info to you) I also use a Copper peptide Surum by skinbiology, which is a non greasy sort of moisturizer which gives my skin a healthy "glow'.

I have been doing all this for a little over a year now, and my skin looks 100% better!!! I still have the ocassionaly pimple, but my skin seems to finally be under control!!! YEAH!! My DH has even complimented me on how nice it looks, and he normally never notices those type of things!!!

Anyway, I hope the info helps!!

Good Luck!!
D.
Hi CD,

Would you mind please forwarding me the information about the peels and the serum?

Thanks!
