I use to have awful cystic acne too so as you can imagine my face has been left with these permanet red marks (and a few holes).

What our makrs are called exactly is post inflammatory hyperpigmentation ...visit this website

http://www.acne.org/messageboard/forums.html

Scroll down to hyperpigmentation, its far down (i dont run it but im a member of the message board) i've been trying some of the things they reccommend (like lemon juice, apple cider viengar) but the best method seems to be using retin A or something like that (forget how to spell it) but i heard ot costs alot of money... Alot of people on that site list what they have had success with so its worth a shot to look around.

Hope I helped, best wishes!

Hey Pixie...I am using Finacea which is the gel form of the Azelex. It seems to be working wonders for me too.

I use Obagi Blender (hydroquinone) and Retin-A. The hydroquinone and retin-a together are the really active components of the Obagi System.

I used it before my wedding with fantastic results and I used it again after breaking out/scarring horribly while prego with my son (after done breastfeeding).

Another thing that has worked incredibly for me is Jojoba oil!!! This stuff really works and it's cheap. I don't have oily skin anymore!

Just seeking some advice, help, comfort, ect... Im new to this whole PCOS thing, not "officially" diagnosed, but I have irregular periods, acne, dark skin around neck, groin, underarms, excessive hair growth and loss!

Its very embarrasing for me, and hard to talk about, because I dont know anyone personally who has it!

But, the things I seek help with are...

Is there ANYTHING I can do about the dark skin? I mean its killing me! I cant go anywhere without straightening my hair and wearing it down to over my neck!! And, I cant remember the last time I wore anything sleeve-less!

How about the acne? Not so much my face...(i can use make-up) But, the grossest <---probably not a word *smiles* is the sores/pimples (whatever you wanna call them) on my butt. what can i do? i have been with my b/f for 2yrs. and lived with him for one, and he has NEVER seen my butt!! im waaaaay too embarrassed!!! Its so annoying, PCOS is a pain!!

Lastly, any advice for weight loss? I know everyone is different, but I know many PCOS'ers carry alot of their weight in their belly (and we look prego damn it) ugh! so, does anyone know any workouts, or diets that have worked???? Im sick of having this "blob"! Also, anyone tried Insulite?? Ive heard nothing but good things so far, but want some input before I spend the $$$$$. that stuffs deffinatley NOT cheap!

Thanx guys for being here!! I love this site, and am so happy I found it!!

PLEASE...anyone who would like to....e-mail me @ my personal e-mail (im not too SoulCyster savvy) lol. I will try to get back on here and check this board, but, I check my e-mail regularly! I would LOVE to be able to talk about things. and, share stories/experiences/problems!! thanks so much!!

Sarah!! =) klwxhww@yahoo.com

I was just going to post something on the main board about my butt being bumpy. LMAO I hate it too! I'm on phentermine for weight loss (prescribed by my endo) and undergoing workup for gastric bypass. I think the IR diet is probably our best bet as well.

i have both brown spots left over from acne as well as light scarring.
for the scars i had two dermatologists tell me that i can't have microdermbrasion because my skin is brown and there is a chance that it can cause discolouration.

for the brown spots i have been using Neutrogena Acne Mark Fading Peel and it has been helping. i've been using it for a month and i've noticed the brown spots have significantly lightened and some have even dissapeared =)

The best way to get rid of them is to see a dermatologist for a glycolic peel to exfolitate or microdermabrassion. If this is out of the question, get an at home microdermabrasion kit and use it every week. There are many products available to fade acne marks.

Thanks for the information. A good herbal remedy which works slowly but painlessly is to apply a small amount of sandalwood paste to your face/marks. Let it dry off and then wash it.

If they had said laser then I would have agreed since that can make it worse. I get regular microderm treatments and have brown skin and have never had a problem. You can also have glycolic peels done as well which I have also done and my skin has really evened out. You just have to make sure you wear sunscreen (which you should do anyway)

I have been checking into Lactic Acid and TCA peels lately. I have some on the way to be exact. I have tons of Hyperpigmentation. Red and pink all over and a few deeper scars. Rough, orange peel texture. Hoping the peels will help all this. Will update.

I have awful deep scaring and as i understand it there are only surgical solutions to this. But ya know what bothers me even more is that i don't know if the current acne will ever stop enough to bother to get anything done!

Scars suck, and the black heads and whitehead are bad but the cysts are fit to drive me mad! I can make them slightly less persistent with constant toner usage but they hurt like a sob and can be anywhere, I get them in my ears even!

My toner recipie...

2 oz witchhazel
1 oz aloe
10 drops teatree
5 drops lavender
2 drops pepermint

My stepdaughter bought a grocery store microdermabrasion kit. I think it was made by Oil of Ole, but I'm not positive. She did it several times a week and got great results. Her minor scars are all gone and the major ones are much less noticeable.
