Default Acne/spots in armpits....

In September and October I had an implant of Zoldex to thin my womb lining so that it could be removed in an op in October. Apart from the hot flashes it gave me the other thing I noticed was an outbreak of spots in my armpits. I thought that when the last implant was out of my system the spots would go away.. the hot flashes have now stopped but I still am getting spots... and putting deoderant on isnt always easy.
Anyone ever have this problem, not necessarily related to the zoladex implant but generally. It feels weird as I never got acne as a teenager or as an adult, the odd spot here and there but nothing severe.

Sorry you are having this problem Squidge

I have Hidradenitis Suppurativa, so yeah I get zits in the pits. HS isn't always big bumps for me, sometimes the spots start out as common pimples or even blackheads.

I don't know what products you have available in the UK, but have you tried any of the bodywashes geared towards people with body acne? They usually contain salicylic acid to help unblock the pores. When I've used them consistently these have helped me in the past.

As you've figured out, wearing deodorant when you have blocked pores isn't always a good idea. Thankfully there's ways around this. If you can see your doctor they can prescribe a topical antibiotic and with that you shouldn't need any other "odor protection". Failing that option, I've used alcohol based gel "hand sanitizer" (burns a bit!), and those funky deodorant stones they sell in health food stores to stay stink free without irritating things. They actually helped dry them up a bit in fact.

I hope they go away for you soon Squidge Such huge hormonal shifts such as you just went through can cause all kinds o' weirdness.

Thanks, I am going to make an appointment with my Dr today so I will ask her if there is anything for my pits... some of the spots are just red and small others can be larger and yucky lol...

i had this also in thigh area, i was diagnosed with something called hidradenitis suppurativa. You may want to look into it, its a rare disease, but seemingly a lot of people may have it and never speak out about it, one sight there was polls and there was a reasonable percentage of women with PCOS that also had HS

www.hs-usa.org - a link always helps, there is also the site for rare diseases, but this is just clinical information and links http://www.niaid.nih.gov , and http://www.nih.gov/niams/

I saw my dr today and I told her that it started after the implants I had done, and she said that it is probably due to the changes in my hormones that the implant caused. Am going to try her suggestions first and hope that it goes away, if it doesn't I shall go back to her. Today they aren't too bad thank heavens.
Thanks for the sites chickinar, will read them more in depth.

I'm glad you saw your doctor and that things are looking up Squidge! I really hope that her suggestions do the trick for ya

I do have to admit that if they can get big it worries me terribly. My HS really got started bigtime when they switched my brand of BCP. Anytime my hormones swing they can flare up. PLEASE keep an eye on those buggers! If they get bigger than, say, a normal zit I'd really urge you to have it removed. Studies have shown HS can be arrested this way if caught early. It doesn't hurt to be too careful to avoid this disease, trust me!!

Hope those annoying things clear up!
