Question Acne worse when taking Soy products?

Hello,
I was wondering if any of you found that your acne increased or got worse when taking any products which contain soy?

I started taking Soy Lecithin Granules (approx 45 grams) per day about 1 week ago and I am noticing my acne getting really aggrevated and popping up on places such as my chest and back and I haven't had that there in the last 4 months.

I also started NAC at the same time, anyone have experience with that vitamin causing side effects?

Default similar experience.

Florette,
(I hope I spelled that right)

I have been getting more acne lately too and I never would have thought about the soy milk if you hadn't posted your topic. Maybe we could stop the soy intake for a week or so and see if it really is the cause.

Thanks,
saverah

Saverah,

I did another test with the soy and found that the same thing happened again. I took the Soy Protein Powder which supposedly acts like Clomid for 5 days. About the 4th day I started to notice the pimples returning and some rather large Cystic ones as well. So I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this or if it has just been coincidental. I am going to avoid Soy for a few weeks and see what happens.

Any input from others would be very helpful.

Default It's helping

Hello Florette,

Well, I tried avoiding the soy milk and within a few days my skin is starting to clear up. I will let you know if any more progress comes out of this.

Your Cyster,
Saverah

Default About soy

Soy is one of the richest sources of copper which is a mineral that women usually have too much of. Excess copper increases estrogen and lowers zinc which might be why it can aggrevate acne in some people. Excess copper is also one of the reasons women get premenstrual acne. Estrogen increases copper and copper increases estrogen...both work in pair. It is also the reason why chocolate has been associated with acne. Chocolate is the richest source of copper. So, you should try Oat, rice or almond milk instead of soy. They test equally good.

Default Soy's estrogen content

Well, lets not forget the actual phytoestrogen that is abundant in Soy too.
Soy and Wild Yam are two of the chief plant substances that the pharmeceuticals make HRT out of.
The american Soy crop has some 22% of the phytoestrogen in it's structure.
I never never never eat any thing with so much as a soy additive anymore.
I fell off the health wagon last week.
I ate icecream and organic chocolate syrup and more ice cream and Ice cream with nuts and a store bought snack cake and poof.....there goes my skin.
What a mess.
And my waist is puffy.
And my belly ached.
And I'm whiney and weepy and overly emotional and LAZY.
ugh...................
Remind me to never never eat processed foods with soy ever again.
It's back to the whole foods market and Yogurt for me.
Just not worth the torture.
I looked at the Ice cream carton today and turned around and just shut the freezer door.
I HATE SOY
Kate
