Default Active Pill Bleeding

I am currently taking Tri-Sprintec (generic Ortho-Tri-Cyclen). I don't typically have a period unless it is a bcp induced one. I have been taking it since November and everything has been normal until February. About 5 days ago I was halfway through my 2nd week of pills and my period started! It is still going strong and I am still taking the active pills-now I am starting my 3rd week of active pills. What is going on?

It sounds like break through bleeding. If you call your doctor now, she might tell you to take an extra pill for a day or two to try to stop it. If you stay on your regular schedule, you will probably continue to bleed until you stop taking the active pills, take the inactive ones, and start a new package. It happened to me in my 2nd month of taking Yaz. I bled full throttle for days.

It may never happen again after you start a new pack. If it does, call you doctor. You may need a pill with more estrogen.
