Default Actos

Hello, and thank you for reading this. In my long search for the right med, I was put on Actos (30 mg) about three weeks ago. The doctor said that this was supposed to help with insulin resistance. I had been on metformin, but had terrible side effects, and will never go back on that med again! Before starting the medication, I had started weight watchers for some help losing weight (I have more than 150 pounds to lose). I had lost 20 pounds, and was really happy with that kind of a start. Since I have started Actos, I have gained 12 pounds back. Has anyone else had this kind of side effect? Does it go away after a while? I talked with my doctor today, and he wants me to continue with the meds...he says that I am healthier being heavier and being on the medication than being lighter and not on the meds. I am really frustrated and am starting to get discouraged. Can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks!
