actos?

Hey Ladies!

Can anyone give me any information on the drug Actos? Does it work the same way as metformin does? I am currently using metformin. My husband, ironically, has just been prescribed actos to help w/ his cholesterol. The doc mentioned that it would help w/ his insulin? Don't know much about it and just trying to get some info before he begins taking it. Anything you could give would be helpful and most welcome. Thanks!

I'm not sure what you want to know. I am currently taking Actos, 30 mg. daily. It's only been a month, so I'm not sure if it's working or not. I'm only slightly IR, and Glucophage didn't seem to help me ovulate (although I did lose 35 pounds on Glucophage XR). I took Glucophage, both generic and brand, for 10 months.

I chose Actos because the side effects are minimal, with one good side effect, that it can cause women who don't ovulate to begin ovulating. And, best of all, no GI problems!
