[font=Century Gothic][size=3][color=#0000ff]So far I haven't noticed any side effects but, I'm sure that will come soon enough. The only side effect I am experiencing is sticker shock! So very expensive! I was wondering if any one out there is on this same medication? It is farily new (I'm told 6 months new) I feel like a lab rat but, since I had such horrible side effects with the Metformin I'm willing to give it a go.

When my dr put me on Actos, ActosPlusMet wasn't out yet. I'm thinking its so expensive because Actos still doesn't have a generic yet and it is quite expensive. I hope it works out for you because I know Actos has been a dream for me.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I also got pregnant last summer but had a miscarriage. But I would have never gotten pregnant without it. If I don't take Actos, I feel really crappy. Let me know how it works for you.

I would love to just pay ONE (well, 2) co-pays a month rather than the 3! Is this new one covered on insurance as a "non-generic" like Actos is? I'm going to call my Endo and talk to him!

AvadinaPlus is also out. they just found that ppl respond better do the double dosing then just the one since the Actos/Avadina works on your muscles where the Met works on your Liver.

I am now on day two of taking the ActosPlus Met 15/500. I take one pill twice daily now. I purposely waited to start taking the two pills because I was afraid of the side effects. I was good the first two 1/2 weeks on it. I was taking the one pill at b'fast and doing just fine. A little stomach gurgling would happen but, nothing else out of the ordinary. Then... on Monday I started taking the two pills. One at b'fast and one at lunch. Yesteray I started to get the nausea feeling mid afternoon and right into the evening. Then today... I ate very little at b'fast and lunch in fear of the same feeling. Well, it took the med again just like yesterday and.....oh my goodness... Just after eating dinner the meds really did my stoamach in. I couldn't be far from the bathroom. Diahrreha set in from the medicine. After about two hours of bathroom runs (no pun intended) I had my son find me some Immodium AD. It has helped a little but not much. Is this freaking normal? I know I should call my doctor but, I really want to stick it out and stay on the medicine. I may have to start taking a change of clothes w/me to work just in case. This really sucks. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do to ease the side effects? I'm willing to try anything.... well almost...
Thanks for listening.

Points: 3,523.68 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,523.68 | Well, after two weeks of being on ActosPlus Met, I moved up from one pill a day to two pills a day as the bottle says to do. Just as I knew it would... my stomach just can't handle two pills yet. So, I went back to one pill a day. I am now even having to pack a small duffle bag w/spare clothes in it. Yeah, that's right. The med that is supposed to make me not have the side effect of loose bowels is doing just that! Guh... I just want to be able to take this medicine w/out side effects! Too much to ask I guess.....

Are you saying the Actos is giving you the loose bowels? Thats weird, I've never had that problem with Actos. I was thinking about asking my doctor about Actosplusmet but I'm not sure now if its getting people sick still.

I'm not saying that ActosplusMet make everyone have loose stools. That is just how I'm reacting to it. I strongly feel that there may be some underlying problems gastroly (is that even a word?) w/me. I am just so tired of being diagnosed and I just want to be well....
Okay.... small rant over.
Each person will I'm sure react differently taking Actos.

Its a naturally occuring bacteria in your stomach I believe and if the count is too high it can give you some serious gastro-intestinal problems. I also have stomach issues that I take Nexium for. I have GERD and if I don't take my medication even water can give me loose stools and heartburn.
My doctor told me that PCOS patients are more susceptible to stomach issues.
Gotta love that PCOS!!

Points: 3,523.68 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,523.68 | Soo, I went off my Actos PlusMET for a couple of months. I know, i know! I shouldn't have but, I did. Good news is that I am back on it and I think I have figured out how to curb a little of the "bowel" trouble that goes along w/taking it. I eat my lunch and wait 15 mins after eating to take my Actos Plus MET. Seems to help. Also, I have resorted to taking Immodium AD once every couple of days so as to help with the "running" to the bathroom so often. I don't know what kind of effects that will have on me in the long run but, it has helped me. I don't reccomend doing that unless talking to a doctor first. I see my dr. in November so at that time I will ask him. Until then, I'm sticking to my game plan.
That's it for now.
