Default Acupuncture, chinese herbs and metformin

After reading ALL of the herbs that people recommended, I thought it prudent to actually go to a TCM (traditional chinese medicine) doctor and see what he felt i needed. I chose one that has been practicing for many years and was born/trained in China.

Today was my first acupuncture treatment. It was amazing. I meditated with the treatment and I could feel the energy flowing almost immediately. Very interesting. The doctor was very helpful and promising with more treatments, that the PCOS could be managed. He also prescribed me two multiherb pills to take. After talking with my husband, I decided to talk to my OBGYN before taking them.

By coincidence or fate, my regular OBGYN happened to call today!!!! He called to see how I was because he hadn't heard from me in a few months. I updated him on my current treatment... (metformin 1000mg, adding acupucture and asking about the chineses herbs) Suprise!!! He was VERY excited!!! He said to absolutely take the herbs and keep doing the acupuncture. If there was no change in 5-6 months we would start clomid.

I am hopeful and I know that it will take a while to get my imbalances in balance. I just wanted to share my positive experience with all you ladies.

Tribal This is great! I am hearing from more and more people that their acupuncturists and TCM doctors say that they can manage/improve PCOS symptoms! It is also nice to hear of western doctors that are supportive of this treatment. Have you read the other acupuncture post – there are other accounts of positive experiences...it would be interesting to know how you are being treated (i.e. where the needles are being inserted and what herbs you are taking) so we can all compare our treatments. Good luck with your treatments.
