Default Acupuncturist wants me to get a blood test

Hi. I'm new to posting on this site, but I have been lurking for quite a while. We have been working with our RE to try for a second little miracle for 11 months now.

I had a miscarriage about 6 weeks ago.

I started going to an acupuncturist, along with continuing to see the RE. About two weeks ago, she told me she felt AF coming. That night, I started getting cramps, lower back pain....the whole nine yards. So I thought, wow, she's good! That lasted for well over a week, but AF never came. Now she is saying she doesn't feel that AF is anywhere close. My RE put me on Prometrium to induce a cycle, but I take my last pills tonight.

So, the acupuncturist keeps telling me she wants me to get a blood test to see if I am pregnant. She thinks maybe what she felt two weeks ago was fertilization, not AF. I have been taking HPTs, and they have all come out negative.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm new to the whole acupuncture thing. Thanks!

Hmmm... How does she "feel" that your AF was coming or that you are pregnant? Is it through taking your pulse or looking at your tongue?

My acupuncturist doesn't try to guess or "feel" what's going on internally for me. Rather, she'll look at my BBT chart, ask me about symptoms, consider my test results from blood/ultrasounds, and devise her treatment based on these things.

I think I would feel uncomfortable if my acupuncturist said she could "feel" that I was pregnant if all the HPTs were negative. I would ask her on what basis she is making her diagnoses.

I've heard of acupuncturists being able to tell by feeling your pulse if you are pregnant. But to 'feel' when you will get af etc. I'm not so sure. I wonder how she is getting her information too.

I've chatted with some acupuncturist interns, asking them about their pulse taking. When studying to become an acupuncturist, interns must have taken 2,000 pulses before they even begin interning at the clinic.

Perhaps pulses change before AF and a well-trained acupuncturist can detect this?
