Default Adding Actos to met?

I have been on Glucg. (850 x 3 daily) for about five months. I had one period (about a month ago) on my own (good news).

I get blood work done every two months. All my levels continue to improve.

My dr. wants to add actos to the Gluc. to see if I become more regular.

I asked him specifically if it caused weight gain--he said it was more weight neutral. I have also done research and read that for those people who are PCOS (compared to diabetic)---weight gain is not an issue. However other research suggests that actos works by creating new fat cells underneath your current ones---these fat cells accept insulin more efficiently.

I am very concerned about gaining weight on this medicine. I am currently 140 lbs and 5'7"---and I would like to loose ten lbs--not gain anything.
I am currently on a very low carb diet (and that works for weight loss and maintenance).

If it adds fat cells does that mean I will automatically gain weight?

HAS ANYONE HAD ANY EXPEREINCE WITH ACTOS---or combining actos and met/gluc?

Default

I was on Avandia for a while and gained 12 pounds. When I went off the pills I dropped those 12 pounds in 2 weeks with no diet or exercise changes - so I know it was the pills! Why they caused weight gain, I don't know... but I do know my endo at the time did not prescribe actos because he saw it to have even worse weight gain effects.

BUT everyone is different.
