You know how they always say, "Gray is the new black or yellow is the new black" as in...it's the color to wear that you can't go wrong with for the season. it's one of those fashion trendy statements. I think the shirt is clever, but I don't think a lot of people are going to get it, especially not young people who shop at urband outfitters

Baby boy on the way!!!!!!! Due 3/10/2010 I couldn't feel more blessed.
So "adopting is fashionable?" I cannot imagine who would buy it other than adoptive parents and then, I suppose, it would be kind of cute. I just don't see there's a big market for the shirt, but if it is meant to drum up publicity, then I guess it's working.
so as in...adopting is something everyone should do...adopting is like owning a hummer instead of a whatever crap car in your opinion is out there...
i found it offensive .. to me it says that adoption is flip and trendy and doesnt mean anything at all...

I totally see your point, don't get me wrong, but I'd rather see adopting and being adopted as a cool thing to do/be than something that should be in any way stigmatized for whatever reason. There are plenty of wonderful kids who need homes, so maybe if it were seen as a more fashionable option by society in general, more people would be moved to investigate the option further. No normal person adopts on a whim, in part because it can't be done in a weekend, but if that whim gets them more interested in opening their home to a child without one and starts them in on the very serious undertaking of adopting a child, I'm all for it.
Bottom line - I understand why you are upset, but I can see another, more positive, side of it as well.
Eh, I don't like it either. It's like saying it's a fashion trend and is the 'in' thing. Rubs me the wrong way.

I think they were trying to be sarcastic about the whole celebrity culture. I heard they had another shirt saying, "Rehab is the New Black" also. A lot of those hip t-shirts for younger people seem controversial. I've seen many of those message tshirts in the school where I work.

it doesnt bother me...i would imagine no one my age would wear one..though i may order the rehab one.. j/k..i guess its better than when people never talked about or whispered the word "adoption" like it was terrible..i think younger kids see it as a great way to make a family

I don't like the shirt but not because it rubs me wrong...because it's stupid sounding! Who's going to buy it?!
Not like people are going to see that shirt and run out and adopt! It's not like a new clip of all the puppies at the pound and everyone is going to run down to the pound now and get a new puppy.
You have to pretty well jump though hoops to adopt (as in the homestudy) so it's not the easiest thing in the world.
I don't think the shirt will sell well.
