Default Adoption Party Ideas....

OK, now that we have the date we are planning a family and friends get together to celevrate 2 Saturdays after the hearing. My inlaws will be out of town the weekend after and have already paid for the weekend so they asked if we would wait until the next.

I just don't know what to do. We are going to have food and a cake but other than that I have not one idea about the rest. I am not even sure what the cake should be. If he was baby then I know but.......

So any ideas or suggestions are more than welcome.

Thanks

Stacy

Since your DS is older, how about letting him help decide what he wants to do @ the party?

You could do the same as for a baby but just make it for an older child.

Good Luck & Congrats!

Oh girls, I wish he would tell us but he is such a laid back child about this. His big thing is that he will now have our name and can stop using his surname. He is soooo ready to move on. We have been very, very surprised. He has stopped referencing himself by his surname and has told us that he wants nothing to do with it. He says that this is all very personal and he doesn't want his friends invited. All he wants is family and our friends. He is excited about a party but I truly believe right now it is more for myself than Billly or my DH.

I am planning on getting a hugh jump on our Family Scrapbook, pictures from the first time we saw him up to recent. I also want to get a book of blank pages and let our family and friends write him advice or encouragment for the years to come. We are having food of course and a cake. The lady who is doing the cake is really studying and looking at several different designs to come up with a great adoption cake.

I just want him to know that he is very, very special and that we are so proud to call ourselves his parents.

The day of the adoption we have already planned on doing something very special just the three of us. Right now we aren't even sure we are going to invite anyone else to the hearing. This part is what seems so personal to me.

UGH.... help me I think I am going to lose my mind.

Stacy
