Different countries have different requirements. For Guatemala we just had to have a form signed by a doctor that said that we were "sound of mind and body and capable of caring for a child" (or something like that). It was a form letter that our facilitator gave us. For Liberia, they didn't even ask. It really depends on the country. I have heard that China is getting more picky about some conditions, but honestly I don't know much about adopting from that country. You might want to post on the forums at adoption.com under the countries you are considering and those people could tell you if it's a problem. Or, you could contact a few agencies that work in the countries you're interested in and just ask them if it would be an issue.
Good luck! BTW, if you or anyone else have questions about Guatemala or Liberia, feel free to PM me.
