Nancy is a counselor and author. She deals with the complex issues unique to adoption that adoptive parents will encounter. As an adoptee, I only with that my parents had been armed with Nancy's knowledge when they were raising me. I think adoption is only responsible choice if perspective parents are willing to look at how the adoptee will be affected by it emotionally. When parents do this, adoption is/can be a tremendous gift and blessing. When they do not, the child is simply caught up in the parent's agenda and his/her rights and needs become a side issue, or worse yet, a non issue.

For those wanting to adopt, check out Mercy Ministries. They provide free help for teens who are pregnant and want to give their baby up for adoption after prayerfully condering to parent or put up for adoption. This is a Christian based ministry.

Question Question

I noticed that you are from Southern Indiana. I live in Evansville, IN. I wondered what international adoption agency you used to adopt? I am trying to get started in the process, but the one in Evansville most of the countries are closed...any advice?
Thanks,
Lisa

I'm only about an hour from E'ville...heading that way tomorrow morning to Toys R Us.

We did not do international adoption. We done a private adoption locally. We did (I guess still are with) try to use an agency up north. They've changed the name since we signed up, but I can find out what that name is now if you want.

If you could find the name, I would be interested. Have you adopted from them before? How far along are you in the process? Anything you would like to share, would be greatly appreciated!

Here is the website:
http://www.stelizabeths.org/

We have not adopted through them. We signed with them years ago (7-9 years ago) but never heard from them.

We adopted our son through a private adoption that came to us when we were not actively looking.
