Has anyone had the ACTH Stimulation test? Apparently my 17-OH and testosterone levels came back unusual and my RE wants me to do the ACTH Stimulation Test, which involves an IV injection and bloodwork.

Has anyone done this test? I haven't scheduled it yet, but I'm super nervous and I don't like needles so the regular blood draw is already a bit scary for me.

Any encouragement is welcome.

No personal experience here- yet. The test is to check for Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (late onset in our cases)

I was going to get the test done this cycle because my 17-hydroxyprogesterone (sp?) came back slightly elevated. But we postponed the test because of insurance issues, my number was just a little higher than it should have been but not too worrisome so the test was more of just being very thorough. I'll probably get it done in a few months.

My doctor explained it involves getting an injection (I believe it is a hormone) and that then you get a blood test after a wait (it's a two hour test) and they see how your body responds to the hormones. But, I'm sure Dr. Google can elaborate better. Also, there is no harm calling your doctor for a more in depth overview.
