Arrow Adult Acnomel

I just bought a tube of Adult Acnomel tonight, I've seen it before but for never bought it. Well tonight at the drug store I picked some up. I have tried "bye bye blemish" before and it worked pretty good in drying out my cystic acne, but I was all out so I figured I would try this instead and since its cheaper (7.50 compared to 10.00). The active ingrediant are similar, it has Sulpher 8% like Bye Bye Blemish, and also Resorcinol 2%. It says its also good for clearing up Rosacea, I dont have it but I figured I'd try it on the bumps on my arms too. Has anyone else used this?

A friend of mine is allergic to benzoyl peroxide and uses this instead. She swears by it! She has pretty clear skin and thus only uses it as a spot treatment for the occasional zit, but it sure seems to work for her.

If sulphur works for you, you may want to try Queen Helene brand Mint Julep Mask, if you haven't already. This is a clay mask that is crazy cheap (about $2.50 for a tube that will last months and months) and it can be found in almost any drug store or at Sally Beauty. This stuff is heavily mint scented and can irritate some (namely me), but it works wonderfully if you can hack it! I can't put it all over my face anymore, but I do sleep with a blob of it on a zit as a spot treatment and it has been known to dry some up over one night.

Doctors Dermatological Formula (DDF) also makes a sulphur mask that is supposed to be great, but I haven't tried it as it's beyond my budget right now. Some dermatologists offices sell this line or you can order it online.

Hope that Acnomel works out for ya! Make sure to let us know if you can!

Yes I have tried queen helenas mint julep mask, it seemed to work pretty well if I kept putting it on, but it got too much to do..to let dry and then wash off, and sleeping with it I would wake up with green flakes all over my pillow lol. I woke up this morning to see if the Actomel worked at all since I put it on spots two times..it seems to have dried my skin out on the top layer but my zits are still there and painful underneath ..I will keep applying it and see what happens.

Where did you find the Acnomel? I had read about it before and have looked for it, but have not been able to find it.

I'm sorry it's not working out so well for you Nikki What a disappointment (((hugs)))

Jlbrown122: I'm not sure if you have them down there, but I know I've seen it in Rite Aid stores up here. They probably have it on their website, too:
http://www.drugstore.com

Nikki... I know I've been raving about this stuff all over, but I can't help it, it's helped me that much. It's Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Lotion. I had my partner pick it up for me last week because my pre-AF breakout was SOOO bad I wouldn't even leave the house! I haven't had a breakout like that in years! I had about three purple cysts and a bunch of normal zits all on the right side of my face. I had heard good things about this stuff on Makeup Alley and I'll admit that the "Rapid Clear" advertising ploy hooked me well, so I sent him to specifically get this. It ended up costing between $5 and $6.

Now I'm a skeptic, no, I'm downright negative... but OMG, this stuff started working the first night I used it. Now the zits didn't disappear or anything miraculous like that, but they did shrink dramatically and look less purple and red. In one application! I applied it twice a day and each day brought visible improvement, not just in the zits, but also in my old red marks and even my scars seemed a bit smoother. Woooaaah!

Now it's been exactly one week and all of the zits and CYSTS are gone. GONE! Anyone who has had a cyst should appreciate that, as they can take weeks to months to heal. I wish I had before and after pictures so you could see this for yourself. It's truly startling.

I usually HATE Neutrogena stuff with a passion, even though I do use a night cream by them until I use it up (I'm cheap like that!). I love this stuff though! It isn't waxy or sticky like Neutrogena tends to be for me, and it only takes a pea-sized dab to do your whole face and neck, so the tube will last a while. It's also making my greasy skin normal. Not dry, not oily, but normal. Hooray!!!

If you haven't tried this stuff yet and aren't sensitive to salicylic acid (the active ingredient), you might want to try it. If it can work on my AF cysts, goodness knows it could work on just about anything! There has to be something else in this magic cream, as the night cream I use has the same exact percentage of salicylic acid (2%) in it and it wasn't doing squat obviously. Salicylic acid hasn't performed any miracles for me in the past, either.

Just thought I'd let ya know! I know how demoralizing acne can be

((((hugs))))

Dana, yes I actually have some of the neutrogena acne defense lotion right now. It seemed to work a little bit for me, but salicylic acid never has worked too well for me for some reason. I continued to use the Acnomel and it dried up my acne but left it purplish red :\..BUT I have been using it on my kitarous polaris and its clearing it up! I am happy about that cause it drives me nuts!

Awww man... and here I thought I'd found a miracle in that Rapid Clear stuff Dang! Salicylic acid usually doesn't do squat for me, either.

Purplish/red? Yeeow! That would scare me... you're fair like me, and I'd be afraid of post-inflammation hyperpigmentation A zit lasts a few weeks at best, hyperpigmentation can last months to up to a year I'd heard of benzoyl peroxide doing that, but I wonder what's in that stuff that could cause that? Hold on and I'll look this stuff up on Makeup Alley and see what they say.

But hey, at least it's helping the KP! That's one thing I'm glad I don't have, as I hear ladies talk about it on the internet all the time. It must be hard as heck to get rid of and keep away (((hugs)))

Default Question for ya Nikki...

Since you're so close, any chance of anyone you know going over the border to Canada anytime soon? There's a GREAT acne product made by Avene called 'Diacneal', but it's not available in the US. Not for safety reasons, just 'cause. It's a combo of alpha hydroxy acids and a patented retinol called "Ystheal". It is supposed to be the bomb-diggity. You can order it off of the internet for about $23US or so plus shipping, but I'm pretty sure it's cheaper if you actually buy it in Canada. It's supposed to help red marks and scars, too!

Just hunting for options,
Dana

Default Dang...

I really tried for ya hon, but I can't find a review for Acnomel anywhere on Makeup Alley, which makes no sense as it's talked about there occasionally at least (sigh). Sorry, I tried It would help it their search function would work correctly for me. GRRRR!

I happened to think of something though... you have health insurance, right? Why not go to the derm? I understand if you have some insane co-pay or something, but if you can possibly swing it, go. Whatever it costs, and the prescriptions, would probably be less than what you would pay for all the experimental products. I've had great success with derms with just run of the mill acne, it was only once mine got cystic that things got... difficult. There's all kinds of great prescriptions out there for even bad acne that work GREAT!

Still pulling for ya!
Dana

Dana you are too cute going all out to help me! I appreciate it Actually I am least concerned about my acne, at most I usually have about 3 zits at a time, usually one or two on my chin..and its always around the time I *should* be having my period. But sometimes the ones I do get hurt so bad and just scar because they are cystic. I have had good results from using a scar diminishing kit, I forget what brand it is..and also Miderma. Actually the acne I get on my shoulders and back bothers me more, and strangly enough salicylic acid works there, I use neutragena body wash with it and dab on some cheap acne lotion at night. I guess I am overly obsessive about the flaws I have because of this disease so I am a product whore and buy anything and everything to try it out. I will still use this Acnomel for my KP though. I also notice triple antibiotic ointment helps the scars I have. Thank you again

Whew! I feel so much better now! I had horrible visions of you having breakouts from hell or something I can't bear to think of anyone suffering! Cysts are still horrible though, and you have all my sympathy there ((((hugs)))). You're right, those things can hurt! Believe it or not, ibuprofen can bring down some of the inflammation and help the pain a bit, but I can understand if you want to avoid any extra medication. I'm just glad it doesn't bother you all that much... that's the important thing

Oh man... can't you tell I'm a product whore, too? When we had our house I had an entire ROOM dedicated to my haircare/ skincare/ makeup/ whatnot. It was insane! I'm still using that stuff up!

Glad the Neutrogena Acne Wash works for your bacne. I've tried and tried to use that stuff to see if it would help my HS and just for exfoliation, but dang if I can get that crap out of the bottle! It's like an arm workout each time I use it! Ridiculous! The scrubby kind, my favorite, is the worst. It's unfortunate as I like how smooth it makes my skin. Poo on Neutrogena! They've never exactly been my favorite drugstore brand. But man did that Rapid Clear save my behind last week!

Hope those cysts clear up soon hon! ((((hugs))))
