Default Adult onset asthma

Just wondering if there is such a thing and if anyone has any experience with it? I've been sick a lot this year with colds, allergies and such. I've gone in to the dr and had chest x-rays which didn't show anything. I'm still coughing since a cold I had the last week of January, my chest feels tight and I have a wheezy cough. I have an appointment to go back to the dr. tomorrow morning but I'm curious to see anyone is dealing with something like this.
TIA,

Heather in 2000 I developed asthma, I got a bad cough in the summer and felt the same way as you do know. I went to my allergist who is also an asthma dr and they diagnosed it. I am now on singulair, adviar 500/50 and xpoenex (pronouced zo-pen-x) pump whe needed. I also now know why you shouldn't fly with a cold. They told me I got asthma becuase my parents smoked when I was younger. I know how you feel and hope you get better soon.

I developed Adult asthma in college-- no smokers in the family but I was part of the swim team- it was the chlorine which helped bring about my 1st attack, after 2 years of being on the team. I ended up having pnuemonia multiple times- 5 cases in 4 years until I moved to a much drier climate. Have them give you a peek flow test. It will let you know how much air you can take in at that moment.

Thanks for the replies. My doc thinks it is allergy related so now I'm taking flonase, advent along with the claritin and sudafed. I'm not feeling great but better than last night. I will ask about the peak flow test next time I'm in to see the dr. Hopefully it won't be for a long time.
