Hi. I just found this board today and I couldn't be happier. So many questions - I'm grateful you're all here. In any event... here's the Reader's Digest version of my story:

I'm 39, single, not TTC. My PCP ordered tests after my irregular cycles became completely absent over the last 8 months or so. Test results reveal LH twice as high as FSH, testosterone is normal. I am overweight, and have an absurd time losing weight even though I work out for 45-60 minutes 6 days a week. I had ultrasounds too - no reports of cysts but they did find a "pedunculated fibroid" in my uterus. So crazy cycles, weight gain around the middle, clinical depression, weird blood tests but nothing else... based on what I've read here I'd be stunned if the diagnosis would change.

I'm going to see a new OB/GYN next week and would like to have an informed conversation with him about PCOS and treatment options - any suggestions for making this a great conversation?

Also the PCP suggested metformin as an option but my glucose levels are normal. There is Type 2 Diabetes in my family but I show no signs of it... yet. Is this a good first step?

Last, could this fibroid related to the PCOS?

Thanks in advance everyone!

To Soulcysters

Im glad that you have found us...when you needed too Isnt this site just wonderful??? It was a life saver to me when I was first DX-ed just to know that there were others like me made me feel so much better as at the time I felt like no one could ever understand what I was going through

I dont know about the fibroid being related to the PCOS but...I wanted to say that I think MET would a good start...even if you arent IR and esp bc you have diabetes II in your family I think Met is a great start...many of us here take Met even if we arent IR!!! Would be be amazed at some of the success us cysters have had with sypmtoms and other things by just taking met...

As for being prepare check the stickys out at the top of this forum great info and even some sample questions for think about before your appointment

Hi there and welcme!

As to the "weight around the middle", even with exercise and a good diet I was, shall we say, curvy...still am a bit. With MET and low carb eating I've had loots of good luck with losing the baggage.

As to the clinical depression, you aren't alone in that. When your hormone levels even out you'll feel better with that as well. I know I did. There is also a depression forum for your bad days.

I hope you get the answers you need.

Have a great day!
