Default Advice and opinions on treatment before returning to the doctors!

Hi everyone, I am newly diagnosed, have discussed with the doctor various drug treatments, but have postponed any treatment until all my finals and end of year stuff is finished ,so dont have to deal with side effects. Although when i did speak to the doctor she talked about dianette and metformin....
About dianette i have heard a series of horror stories....symptoms coming back tenfold once coming off it, making problems worse, increased infertility etc would love to hear some sound advice?
As for metformin i have heard generally good stuff, stories of a few initial problems before side effects settle down but generally good ?
or does anyone have any other advice on other treatments!
.xx

Hi Sarah,

I was put on metformin while in Uni and it made me evil. My poor husband put up with mood swings, my dizzy spells and sickness. It didn't work for me but has for many others. Different meds work for different people, I think your doing the right thing waiting until you finish your finals. Good luck

I am om met 500mg and I have no major side effects if I eat with it, the main problem I believe is tummy upset but I have IBS so not sure.
Dianette makes me feel fat and bloated so not for me but have a friend who takes it for acne and it makes the weight fall off her, so everyone responds different to meds. If you are IR then maybe it might be good for you to start a low dose of met just to keep your sugars from rising and dropping.
Good luck with it, and good luck with finals too
