Default Advice please,no period for over 2 months

Hi,
This is my first post. Please can i get some advice?! A couple of moths ago my doc told me i had to take a break from my BCP as i'd been on it for 6 years practically non-stop. I was taking dianette and i've been happy on that as it helps with my skin. I was very scared to come off it in case my skin broke out. He gave me a perscription for yasmin to take during the break from dianette. I decided to not take yasmin as i knew yasmin contains spiro which i've been on before and had a very bad experience with(broke out worse than i'd ever been before!!!!!!!!!!!!). So; in the two months off BCP i haven't had a period. I now want to get back on dianette as my skin has started getting oily again and i've been getting more spots than usual which i'm depressed about as my skin has been fantastic for a while previous to all this!!!!!!!!! Can anyone tell me if i can start taking my BCP again without waiting for a period?! I know you are supposed to take it on the first day of your next period but as my periods are non-existent without BCP would it harm me to just start taking it again? My periods were so regular on dianette so i just want to get back to it. Goodness knows how long i'll be waiting if i have to hold on for the period and i'm petrified that the more i wait, the longer i'm giving my skin to react badly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!! Help!

Jencyster, I just read your posts on Flax seed. Where can I get this? Can I find Flax seed at a regular grocery store or do I have to go to a health food store..thanks!

Well seeing its been awhile since your last period I'd say you need to wait or ask for provera(sp?) to start period first. I suppose you could take it but you need to be sure you aren't pregnant first. If thats not possible you could probably start them. Call the dr. office and ask the nurse.

To Furrygirl,
Yes you can find flax seed at regular grocery store. Often they have flax seed oil though too. In the health foods sections at most they have ground flax seed though.

Thanks for the replies but just wondering if i'd be safe to start back on the pill without having a period? Do people take the pill in order to have periods?

When you come off the pill, it can be normal for there to be a period of time where your period does not come. This happens as your hormones are adjusting and starting to try and create themselves again. The period you recieve on BCPs are not really a real period, rather an induced one by the pill. I've read more about this somewhere, its definately worth looking into. How long was the break your doctor wanted you to take? Obviously he/she has advised you to take a break for a reason. Perhaps to stop you from building up a resisitence to it? I say keep at it for a while longer without the pill but if you feel you have to be on the pill, try the yasmin and see how you go, if it makes you crazy go back to your doctor and ask for another alternative. As for starting the pill without a period, I'm unsure. Perhaps if you have kept track of where your period was suppose to begin, start then? But perhaps you should ask your doctor first. Good luck hun! ((hugs))

I would call your Doctor and see what he says, but I would assume barring you are not pregnant, you need provera to bring on af then start bc hth!
