Is AF 2.5 wks post D&C normal?

Hello,

I had my D&C on the 18th of Dec and I got my AF on the 4th of Jan (17 days after). Is that normal? I was bleeding on and off since the D&C but this is more like a real AF. I had all the PMS signs too (ask dh!). Is this normal? Everything I have read said it should be anywhere from 4-6 weeks afterwards. (I was 13.5 weeks along but the baby died at 9 weeks, I dont know if that makes a difference)

Any advice? Thanks.

I don't know if there is such a thing as "normal". They do say on average you will get it 4-6 weeks after, but it really depends on when your hormones get back to normal. Did you ever have your HCG levels checked? It is possible that your hormones had been dropping for 4.5 weeks after the baby died and before you found out.

I have had 2 D&C's but I think I have always had it when my hormone levels were at their highest since we found out very shortly after my babies had died (I got weekly ultrasounds). It took over 8 weeks to get AF after my 1st d&c and surprisingly only 6 weeks after the second.

But to answer your question, yes I guess it is possible to get AF 2 weeks after.

i spotted 2 weeks after MC, doctor tested me for infection, came out all clear.
Was a bit scarey. Only lasted 2-3 days.

Maybe that was just it my HCG levels had already declined I never thought of that. I did stop getting m/s around the 9th week so obviously there was some decline.
