My Mood: Points: 2,027.10 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,027.10 | AF after Lupron Good Sunday to everyone,
Have a question and hoping some of you ladies may have some input/experience. In 1/06 was dx w/ endo and placed on Lupron injection for alonst 18mo. 4-5 mo after completing the Lupron I still haden't seen AF, went to the MD, got a script for Provera to "jump start" and got AF, no AF the following month on my own and DH and I had decided we wanted to TTC. Well.... con't to need Provera to induce AF and 2 round of clomid w/ BFN later....was dx PCOS this Jan. Yada yada yada....... to make a long story short.....
Have any of you ladies been on Lupron and how long after stopping did you get AF????? Im just wondering if this is also affecting why AF may still not be showing on her own on top of the PCOS. Have been on met 2000mg for about 6wks now and have yet to have a natural AF .
Thanks in advance and sorry if this was a bit confusing....
-KC

I have been on lupron since last August and received my last injection in February. DH and I are now waiting for AF so we can start injections.
Good luck and lots of baby dust!

Points: 235.17 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 235.17 | I took Depo Lupron after being told I had what looked to be beginning stages of endo. I hated that shot. I gained over 30 pounds in less than three months on the three month dosage shot. Then I didn't get AF for months after the treatment. I had to go get back on birth control to jump start my cycles again. I guess it balanced the hormone levels. |

My Mood: Points: 1,592.09 Bank: 161.24 Total Points: 1,753.33 | Wow! I have been thinking about this question several months ago. I was supposed to go on Lupron for 6 months, only decided to do for 5 monthly injections because those hot flashes were driving me nuts! My last shot was February 5th. Went to see my RE last Monday (April 14th) and he told me I should get my period in 10 weeks after the last shot. Well you wouldn't believe it but it began this Sunday (April 20th)! So, it came very close to 10 weeks! My last period was back in mid-November and I started the monthly shots since October. Hot flashes had ceased by mid-March and I finally got my good memory back. My memory was shot on Lupron, I couldn't remember anything past 2 minutes. LOL! The hot flashes and night sweats gave me insomnia. Oh, yeah I definitely had the weight gain but I can also blame it on the free food from interviews and the fatigue Lupron gave me. And, I also noticed I had some joint pain in my right knee. My RE told me my estradiol was a 2 so I was in menopause. I was too impatient with the black cohosh and aygestin I was prescribed to relieve the hot flashes. The only good thing I miss (and you may hate me for saying this), but I miss not having a period. In a way I can't wait to be pregnant or go through the fast lane past the menopause stage. The cramps are a killer again and I'm afraid how I'm going to manage them in residency. I always joke with my fellow medical student/friends! At least, I had a taste of what menopause will be like. I do recall my RE told me that he refused to give his patients the 3 month shot because they have to wait so long for their period to come back sometimes for 6 months. So, he rather gives his patients a one month shot despite the expense (a $100 co-pay each shot) and then he can start his patients on a fertility plan.

My Mood: Points: 10,808.70 Bank: 24,537.44 Total Points: 35,346.14 | I took the shot for 6 months and it took 12 weeks for my cycle to return on its own. I didn't start met until the next month and then I got my bfp. So I have no idea why your body is acting funny but if you and dh are really interested in ttc I would say just use the provera, maybe it will jump start everything.
Good Luck,
Adrianne

My Mood: Points: 51,309.29 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 51,309.29 | I was supposed to be on it for 6 months in 06 but stopped after 3 because the side effects were too much to bear. I didnt get AF for nearly 8 months after and got it once from BCP and then still nothing for another 7-8 months. Very frusterating when TTC. When I was diagnosed PCOS and put on Met I finally got AF back, 3 months straight for the first time! Then a BFP!

My Mood: Points: 6,395.50 Bank: 253,648.36 Total Points: 260,043.86 | You girls are making me anxious for the end of next month to come!!!! Which is when the Lupron should be out of my system. I did the 2 3 month injections. Gosh I wish all I had to deal with was hot flashes and night sweats. I became the meanest girl on the block around here lol. I even think I was on the verge of losing my job. They tried to put me on Lexapro but I ended up with major headaches, I was crying all the time (that has finally passed along with the meaness) and now my mind just goes continuous, I barely even sleep. I have full body aches too. Before starting Lupron I didn't have a period for 10 months but made up for that in about the first 3 weeks of getting the injection. I would really like to try for a baby someday, but my dr told me she didn't want me trying until around July......time is getting closer

Points: 150.88 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 150.88 | starting after lupron I kept reading about how it could take 8 weeks after last shot to start or even up to 6 months. Well, I finished my last shot 4 weeks and 4 days ago and I started. Has anyone else ever started that quickly? I can't believe the lupron got out of me that quick. I did 5 shots. I literally just had my last shot a month and 4 days ago. I did not spot or even have one single period the entire 5 months and now it's already back. Anyone else have this same experience? |

I am waiting for some kind of symptom of AF and nothing yet. If I don't have AF by the middle of July I have to go back and have blood work done and then they will have to induce it all...I can't take Provera, so I don't know what my other options are.
