Default AF Overflow!!

I was on progesterone for ten days, on the 9th day I began my AF for the first time in a year. I was happy but then it was REALLY heavy. Today has been the worst, Almost every other hour I was changing a tampon or pad.. I even had to double up because I was soaking through.. I feel very weak I suppose because of the amount of blood and all the cramping.. I also just started gluc/met so I am constantly on the porclein thrown.. Sorry if it's TMI but I was wondering when it's too much and what has been others' experiences with this problem.. Thanks

Sounds like you're low on iron. Make sure to get enough. If you haven't had a period in a long time, it tends to be heavy like that, it's cleaning out all the old stuff. Yay for you! I'm sorry I don't have more experience with this, my periods are generally really light. But maybe others will.

When I don't have AF for 3 months or more I tend to bleed just as heavy for the first day or 2....The first time I had this I was really scared. If you are concerned and are still feeling weak(I never do), call your Dr. I'm not on Gluc/Met so I don't know how that would affect your situation?

I am in the same boat as you! I hadn't had a period since July 9th, then doc put me on Provera, 11 days later, holy, watch out, here comes AF! I had to change my tampon every 1-2 hours for the first 4 days!! Thankfully, it's almost over! I felt very tired, weak, and crampy too. It sounds like you're anemic and should try to get some iron in your diet or through vitamins! Good luck!

I definitely agree on the low iron comment. I had a really heavy flow once that lasted over two months. Finally, after seeing me every single week to buy super absorbancy tampons and pads, my pharmacist stopped to chat with me - to see what was going on. She recommended taking iron supplements - with the right dosage (self medicating iron is dangerous!) and I had more energy, and felt a whole lot better!

I also find it helps to eat iron rich foods during my period. Steamed broccoli with melted cheese... Mmmm comfort food...

Anyway, good luck, and let us know what's working for you!

I taste like Peanut Butter.

I am one of the most blendable flavours; I go with sweet, I go with sour, I go with bland, I go with anything. I am practical and good company, but have something of a tendency to hang around when I'm not wanted, unaware that my presence is not welcome.

Still flowing! you know, I never thought I would be anemic, both my sister and mom are.. I just took an iron pill, I ate some steamed veggies with grilled chicken. Oh I want to suggest this new thermacare patch. When I went to buy my monthly supplies I got a free sample. They are for menstrual cramps and I have had it on all day. They also make it for back pain and aches. You wear it on the inside of you panties and it lasts for 8 hours.. I am hoping that this aching will stop in a couple of days. Thanks for all your helpful advice! Please post more!!
