I'm going to look this up....is this medication Sulfa based? At the point with all the allergic reactions that I keep running into, I don't want this to be on my list of things I can't use. Especially since I'm going to start wearing my natural hair, the skin needs to be on point too.

I hear you guys talking about "dark spots" but do you think it would help on areas, say, where I may have spots due to a bump that I messed with? I know thats icky but I have over come that problem! I am now paying the consequences....

I have an appointment with my dermatologist this week to get the prescription for TriLuma...I'm really keeping my fingers crossed to see great results!
Trust me ladies, if they can clear up my scars then they should put me in their next commercial because their product is really that good! LOL
Thanks Kat for the recommendation...I'm really excited, I've been searching for a stronger fading product for years and this seems like it might work.

I know what you mean Mschin...my insurance won't cover it, but if this will clear my skin and restore my self esteem, then it was worth more than any coach or gucci bag.
I haven't felt feminine in years and the scars and the manly hair has made me feel like a man for as long as I can remember.
I can't remember the last time I've worn a bathing suit or formal dress because of the scars on my neck and chest, so I'm really hoping this will finally work for me, even if it just fades it enough so it won't be so obvious, or where I can cover it with just some sheer makeup like bare essentials, then I'm happy.
I've spent alot of money on things that didn't work, so I am hoping this will be the thing that works....

I had an appt. with my dermatologist last month and she prescribed Tri-Luma.
I already knew it was not covered by my ins but didn't know it was going to be $145. I went to Tri-Luma website and printed out the $25 rebate certificate. I am praying for great results, especially for the price!

yhhoney28 - What have been your results since you were prescribed Tri-Luma?
I was reading May's issue of Essense Magazine with Laila Ali on the cover and they have a 4-5 page article on skin care featuring black dermatologists and they are talking about topics regarding aging, hyperpigmentation, facial hair, etc.
One thing I did notice was that they spoke about Tri-Luma as a fade cream in conjunction with microdermabrasion when doing laser hair removal to get the best results.
Now I'm even more excited about trying Tri-Luma. I have my dermatologist appointment tomorrow and I will definately be mailing in the rebate...heck, I might even ask if they have a "sample"

I just educated myself on this too. I'm allergic to Sulfa meds, usually this in antibiotics, and not to be confused with Sulfates. I think since my reaction to Sulfa was so bad I just associated anything with the prefix Sulf- was bad...lol. Each of them have different compond components. I did see on Tri-Luma's website though if you are on bc, you need to be on one that is non-hormonal and for now I'm on one that is hormonal. I do believe as much as it cost, it does like sound winner, but I for now I'll stick with my Mederma.
Many people report an allergy to a "sulfur" drug when they go to the doctor. But what does this mean? Usually, a person means that they have experienced an adverse effect from a sulfa-containing antibiotic, such as Bactrim. However, it may mean something much different.
Sulfa medications come in 2 types, antibiotics (such as Bactrim) and non-antibiotics (such as Celebrex). This is usually the medications that people are referring to when they say they have a "sulfur allergy". Sulfites are preservatives in foods and medications, and not related to sulfa drugs. Sulfates are "salts" of various medications, such as albuterol sulfate nebulizer medication used to treat asthma. These medications usually do not contain sulfa or sulfites. How do you tell the difference? What about sulfites and sulfates? It turns out that these three terms are quite different, and that a person who has experienced a reaction to one does not necessarily need to avoid the others.

I went to the dermatologist yesterday and bought the Tri-Luma cream. They also gave me some samples of Tazorac to use in conjunction the Tri-Luma.
Anybody else using Tazorac?
I'm scheduled for microdermabrasion on tomorrow and was told to wait to start the Tri-Luma until Monday, I guess to give my skin a few days to rest.
For those on Tri-Luma, do you have a skin care routine you use with it? Are you using any special facial cleansers or moisturizers to keep your skin clear?
