Default After 7 months, wacky month on Yasmin

Has anyone experienced anything like this while on Yasmin? I've been on approximately seven months and haven't ever had a problem with it. Hair went away, face cleared up, lost a few pounds (nothing major), had my period and all was well. It came like clockwork while on it and I've been pretty happy with it.

However, I feel like all of my hormones came this month with reinforcements and are going crazy. I feel like I had ovulated, or tried to ovulate as I have the pains and feelings in my ovaries that I haven't had since I started Yasmin. My face has a few zits, some hair sprouted overnight and my moods are similar to what they were before Yasmin--moody and irritable. Also, I feel as if I'll be getting my period early (today) on my sugar pills instead of the regular Wendesday.

Has anyone had a similar situation while on this? If you did, did it return to "normal" next month or is it time for me to go back to my dr. to consider a different bc?

Are you sexually active? Not to scare you but I got pregnant on Yasmin and the month I got preg, I felt pretty much like you described.

I was an emotional, pimply, crampy mess...

That happened to me!!! Everything was hunky dory for 4 years then it went all crazy on me. I got my period mid-month and I turned into a hairy she-demon. I asked the doc and he told me I had ovulated on Yasmin. Weird. I freaked out cause I am on Spiro and stopped right away. Anyway now I am on Ortho-TriCyclen Lo...and I find it to be a less spaztic BCP...alas it makes me bloated...I can't win. Anywho, ask the doc about it. There could be a reason why that stuff is happening on you. Maybe other meds are kicking in and trying to make your body ovulate like mine did. Its worth talking to him/her about it.

Yasmin really seems to have an unusally high failure rate among cysters... even if you don't get preg on it, you should not be ovulating on a BCP!!! I wonder if the failure rate is higher among normal women too???

I wonder if I should go back on it to TTC #2?

I'm not sexually active, so I know I'm not preggers. That's something to look forward to. Preggers--emotional, pimply, crampy mess.

I'm only on Met and Yasmin. I had read on this board where a few people happened to get pregnant while on Yasmin, so I know there's a chance of ovulation. I know no BCPs are 100% and I'm not really too concerned about it. Unless it happens next month, too. I've been thinking about switching BCPs due to the fact that my insurance pharmacy copays are going up and I'll have to pay for Yasmin out of pocket, pretty much.

I guess I'm just concerned that I'm getting "worse" instead of "better."

Hey RD, that might work cause I felt ovulation pain but ignored it chaulking up to the fact I swallowed my tounge ring and blamed it on that but lo and behold I got AF and went through PMS and all that jazz. I think what is was is that I am on Met and Spiro along with losing weight so I think my body liked that combo and decided to give me a gift....AF. Nice. So maybe just maybe Yasmin works with us cysters differently making us more fertile as opposed to not fertile. Its worth a try. heh. But doesn't feel good that your the famous cyster that got pg on Yasmin...it will go down in the annals of SC history. You will be remembered for decades...lol.

Caelda - I don't know whether if it is making you worse or better because maybe your body is trying to do things on it's own. Speak to the doc and get some blood work done to rule out any hormone imbalances. Maybe you don't need the BCP anymore. Its something to look into...

Spiro is short for Spironolactone, a diuretic that has anti-androgen effects. Its used with the cysters because it helps decrease testosterone in our bodies...its great for getting the hairyness under control.
